Removal of Fat Necrosis after Breast Reduction

Removal of Fat Necrosis after Breast Reduction

I am having a large ( almost peach sized) lump that was diagnosised as fat necrosis removed from my one breast. At the same time, my PS will fix massive scarring on the other breast. My question is when he removes  the lump, he said it will leave a large dent and he will have to do complex reconstruction. I want to go into my pre-op appt with knowleadge of what my options are, would you be able to help me? Ive tried to look it up online, but cant seem to find anything on Fat Necrosis removal.

I almost have the same story.  My breast lump occurred after my breast reduction series of tests such as US, Mammogram biopsies all say it is caused by fat necrosis yet it has enlarged over the last four years too about the size of an egg.  I've gone too see a surgeon not my PS and he wants too remove it just in case yet all tests say it is benign.  I am afraid that if I have it removed it will leave more scaring develop of fat necrosis again and since the doctor is not a plastic surgeon he is not concerned about how my breast will look after surgery.  If you find out anything or I do on this subject l will pass along please let me know too if you do.  Best of luck too you.

Hello,

I would be very wary of a Doctor wo wanted to do a surgery on me just in case.  We would all like to believe our Doctors have only our interests at heart, but it is like believing your auto mechanic has only your interests at heart when he is recommending things to do to your car.

I would in fact, RUN, from a general surgeon before I let him do anything to me that was cosmetic in nature.  Their attitude is and always has been, if you don't die, you shouldn't have a complaint about how you look.

I would suggest sitting down and making a list of what is bothering you.  List every item, leave space to write down the Doctors Answer... if you get nervous or forget, ask him if you can tape record your discussion because you are very nervous about this and need to listen to it at home and think about it.

NO DOCTOR should be offended by questions.

DO YOU THINK if they were having one if their nuts cut off, they wouldn't ask a million questions and keep asking until they were comfortable?

I suspect the first lady has already had her surgery, I hope it worked out.

I will do some checking for the second lady on fat necrosis specifically and see what I can find.  I spent several years decades ago allowing Doctors to bully me into repeated removals of non malignant lumpy breast tissue... I wouldn't stand for it now, but I was young and terrified then and thought all Doctors were pure and not profit motivated.  Remember, they have big loans to pay off and an even bigger desire to make that half a million a year.

I had a breast reduction last year and as the swelling went away my breast went inwards..my ps said i developed fat N. so in march he fixed it my cutting away the dead fat and taking some fat from my belly to fill in...well i have 1 breast bigger than the other and again i got fat necrosis so I am going in August to have it fixed..this time he said he will do the cut underneath because he didn't do this the first time....I dont regret having a breast reduction because I was a e cup and now I am a b but how he can make such a mess.

I had my breast reduction done in January 2011. I've developed fat necrosis in my right breast where there was also some areola loss. This breast also had obvious fluid, before the necrosis  - you could hear it- that has subsided. I want to be ready with questions for my appointment next week. If further surgery is suggested, I will seek another opinion on course of treatment. I did not interview any other doctors prior to my surgery!
