Smartlipo questions...

Ok, I have just had breast implants  (for about 1 month now) and now I am looking into liposuction. The Dr. who did my implants does liposuction (one of the newest types...liposcrulture) but I'm thinking about smartlipo instead. I have been researching both for a long time and I think with the facts I have read smartlipo sounds better for me.

However I do have some question! I'm going for a consult for smartlipo but I know I want the following areas done:
upper/lower abs
inner/outer thighs
flanks
under butt area
butt(?)

I wanted to hear form anyone who has has this done who maybe had cellulite in their thighs and I wanted to ask if it got a little better after smartlipo? I have heard it does (sometimes). Another thing is how much have all of you lost after doing this? (lbs and inches) here are my measurements:
Hips:38.5"
Waist: 31"
Thighs: 24"

I would love to be:
Hips: 34"
Waist: 26"
Thighs: 20"

Is it possible to lose that many inches in each area? Let's see that would be  4.5" in the hips, 5' in the waist and 4" in the thighs. Thank you for helping me figure all this out and any info you can give me would be great!!! MUAH!!!!!!

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you are most likely not going to lose the kind of inches you want to with liposuction treatments of any kind.  I am a veteran of lots of plastic surgery procedures, so I speak from experience.

If a Doctor tells you that he can give you that kind of loss, or that liposuction will correct cellulite, you should look very carefully at his credentials, who certifies him as a Plastic Surgeon, Where he graduated in his class at medical school (over or under 50 percent). Go on the net and spend 25 bucks and see how many times he has been sued... you can buy a report. Check with your State regulatory office and medical license bureau as to his record.

Many women have died in procedures to lose pounds of fat and inches... it can be a very dangerous thing to try to lose large amounts of fat at one time through liposuction.  Not only that, you will find if you do have an area liposuctioned of a huge amount of fat, you may end up with loose baggy skin as a result... due to the rapid reduction of fat, the body does not have time to adapt and tighten the skin.

The fact is, liposuction will only remove so much... the more fat there is the fewer fat cells are removed.  The remaining fat cells will then begin to enlarge if you eat more calories than you burn.  That is why you see movie stars who get thin with liposuction that looks dramatic (they slip off secretly and have many procedures, then return and it looks like it was all done at once, very expensive).  This is also why they keep getting fat and having procedures again.  The Country Singer JUDD is a prime example.

A fat cell can expand endlessly... so the fat cells they remove won't be there to make you fat, but if you still over eat and under exercise, the fat cells that are there  will grow and you will find yourself with the same fat looking body... not the same fat cells, but the same look.  ONLY your bank account will be permanently smaller.

Truly effective liposuction works on smaller areas so you want the smallest possible area to liposuction, because that will get many more small fat cells.  Then you will have an area with few fat cells to grow again.  That is why you will ALWAYS see this type of statement from reputable surgeons and Plastic Surgeon Certifying Boards... Liposuction works best on fit individuals with small problem areas that will not yield to diet or exercise.

If you counted calories for a year... REDUCING your calorie consumption five hundred calories a day x 7 days a week, plus a 20 minute walk a day, you would lose one pound a week.  That equals a 52 pound loss in one year.  Do you need to lose 52 lbs?

If you needed to lose half that amount, 26 pounds, you could do it in 6 months.  If you were to exercise with free weights, a can of tomatoes in each hand, you could build muscles in addition.  Muscles weigh more than fat, but they are thinner and they burn more calories than fat, just sitting there.

Cellulite is a bummer, but even very thin women can have cellulite, it is genetic.  Being as close to your ideal weight as possible will make what cellulite you have look as unobtrusive as possible.

Calorie counting is the only true way to lose weight.  You have to determine how many calories you need to eat for maintenance, according to your height, weight, activity level.

You may even find fasting one day a week works for you.  Millions and Millions of people all over the world practice fasting regulary, largely for religious reasons others for health reasons... none of them die from a one or two day fast... neither will you.  This has the advantage of eliminating a lot of calories in one fell swoop...

I would suggest before you spend a huge amount of money getting liposuction, you try a serious diet and walking or exercising program (half an hour of either).  Lots of the exercise you can trick yourself into... going shopping?  Park as far away from the store as possible.  Walk everywhere you can.  Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Good luck.
