labiaplasty

by baby-firefly01, Jan 27, 2007 12:00AM
my daughter has asked me if she can have labiapasty and i have agreed because she says her labia causes her discomfort , embarassment and prevents her from wearing certain items of clothing , i think it will give her much more confidence and i am willing to pay whatever amount , i live in the UK . how old will my daughter have to be to undergo this type of surgery?

isn't this funny a male circumcised as a baby wants to reverse his circumcision and your daughter wants to be circumcised all on this page.this is why babies shouldn't be circumcised.does your daughter only want her labia removed or also the clitoral hood?if she has the hood removed she will have more sexual pleasure but her clitoris will rub on her clothig and be uncomfortable just like a circumcised male.i have seen the results and my opinion as a man is that intact women look better.but if this must be done it will cost around 3500.00 and clitoral hood removal is about 2500.00 more.you can shop around for prices.

i thought i should also add that if your daughter has this surgery it is more than skin being removed nerves will also be removed causing permanent feeling loss and also part of the labia could be used at a future date for reconstructive surgery if your daughter ever needed a new eylid, inner nose,or mouth due to an accident or disease, again i would advise against this surgery.

Please think hard about this before you sign your daughter up for surgery.  I had it 6 weeks ago and am still in a lot of discomfort.  I'm still off work and can't wear underwear/pants/jeans.  Walking is even hard.
Sex is impossible.  No guarantee this will ever get better or that I will be able to function normally again.

My surgeon is well-reputed, experienced, and the head
of a large practice.  Nerve damage can occur that can
be permanent.  Chronic discomfort is a very small, but very real risk.

If she's completely miserable and you are both willing to take the risk, then do it.  But be aware this surgery has the potential to make her life so much worse.  If
it's a vanity issue, please leave well enough alone.

I am considering this surgery and have been for a long time.  I have read a lot about it and it seems to me that the the 'straight across' technique causes a lot of discomfort post-operatively and long term.  I went to a highly reputable surgeon who recommended this (it cost me £120 for a consulation) but he couldn't really defend his position.  In contrast, on the forums, those who have had V sections seem to fare much better and are happier with teh results.  So this is what I will choose. It also appears that teh US surgeons are much more involved with the surgery.  I would be very careful who you choose - I have seen 10 UK surgeons and am not happy with everything about any of them so far.  A lot are not plastic surgeons; some companies seemed lax about cleanliness; some pressure sell and quite frankly lie about things. So be careful.  If I find a surgeon I am happy with I will post another comment in the future and let you know how it goes.

I thought labiaplasty meant this for reshaping the lips not removing them?

reshaping means removing part of the lips.it is the same as male circumcision.you must remove some or all to reshape.

Dear all, i am also considering a labiaplasty as my inner labias are approximatelly 2 inches outside the outer lips. Is there ay other good method that does not involve so many complications to get this fixed???

I had labiaplasty about 5 years ago.  For everyone who doesn't experience the embarassment of having your labias close to 3 inches long and how uncomfortable it is...then it is very easy to think one may be crazy to consider the surgery. If you follow the doctor's orders you will be perfectly fine...there is no loss of feeling. Of course the first couple of days are rough, but it is the absolute best thing I ever did for myself and frankly wish I did this before I was 44 years old.  Undressing in the locker room and having someone point and say "What's that??" is horrifying.  Dr. Stern in Hollywood, Florida is the best!
