Possibly Chron's or something else?

Hello, I have been experiencing this for about 7 years on and off. When I first noticed my symptoms I was 13 years old. Every morning after breakfast I would have bad cramps and sometimes after lunch at school. Back then it was more on the mild side. Now I am 20 years old and experiencing this nearly every time I put something in my mouth, even a few crackers. Now it is way more debilitating. I cannot function for hours after eating sometimes. I have a bowel movement 30 minutes - 1 hour after eating. My discomfort is NOT relieved from a BM, actually it seems worse after. I have cramps, nausea, sometimes diarrhea. Never constipation. Also dull pains in my navel. Sometimes it's so severe I can't walk or talk. Anyone with any suggestions about this?

HI, it could be h-pylori. That would be found with a simple blood test. I had that and had the same problems you did. They checked me for so many things that kept coming back negative. Finally a nurse told the doctor to check me for h-pylori. He did and it can back positive. It is easily treated with antibiotics and stomach medicine for 2 weeks. Then I felt like a new person. Good luck.

Does IBD run in your family at all?

I had similar symptoms and I eventually got used to the discomfort. That was probably just something with me and they way I dealt with it as I hear from a lot of people that it's something that they never got used to..

The best way to find out, of course, is to talk to your doctor.

There's many digestive disorders than can cause this so keep your mind open. Crohn's is something that should be considered but don't just determine that you have it and be done with it.. I didn't accept my diagnosis and because of that I ended up with the option have having my ileostomy reversed after surgery because I was sure that it was Colitis instead of crohn's.

I'm only 20 as well, so I know the boat that your in. You're stronger than you think.. The fact that you can deal with this and continue to go on The fact that you went to school and the fact that you are here is a huge step for people as young as ourselves.
