Ruling out pain causes ...

This is perhaps a wrong forum to place this question...I think you are all very well informed though so hopefully you can help me.

I have this awful horrid pain that just won't go away and the docs are doing their best to rule out but of course I am anxious...

First to say I have had an ER cat scan which ruled out appendix ...the only issue on it was several small bilateral cysts on ovaries. Sparse fluid by ovary

So I have an extensive history so I will spare everyone the "what do I have?" And change my question to

What could I have that would not show on the cat scan????

My main symptoms:
-Tender abdomen all lower all over
-Right side harsh pain comes and goes ... It was stabbing pain at one point which brought me to er
- weight loss
-Lack of appetite .. When I do I want salt and potatoes and bread
- painful broken glass pain lose stool
-wake in night from pain .. After a couple hours loose stools leaves tender feeling for a day it two
- very bad UTI now cleared
-on and off fever then low grade fever

The right side pain is new to me however the other issues have been around for many years .. The right side pain is not an issue I can deal with
The rest having for many years I just assumed was IBS (self diagnosed)
I also have pretty active MS which everyone wants to blame this on

My next step is a GI doc .. Waiting on the call for an appt.

Thank you for your reply!
You put everything I was wondering into one place for me now :)
I am still waiting on the referral to the GI specialist and still having right side pain (the sharpness comes and goes but always a dull ache)
The pain that took me to the ER has not been back so I am keeping my fingers crossed :)

Thank you again... I will repost if I do find an answer to my current phenomenon

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. Actually most GI issues will not show up on a CT scan. Appendicitis, especially chronic and ther bowel disorders causing chronic inflammation and thickening of bowel or bowel growths and cancer can be caught on CT scan. For conditions like IBS, Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis, you need to get a video encapsule endoscopy or a sigmoidoscopy or a colonoscopy, as appropriate. Conditions like celiac can be ruled out by specific blood tests. Also food intolerance is a possibility that should be seriously considered. Please discuss with your doctor. Recurring pain on right side should be seriously investigated for appendicitis and colitis. An ultrasound (even if CT was negative) and a stool test should help clinch or refute the diagnosis. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
