How to live with Chrons??

My son-in-law was just diagnosed with Chrons Disease & Ulcerative Colitis.  He is 33 yrs. old and has been very ill lately and is having difficulty  living with these diseases.  Working is becoming more difficult as well as his diet.  He is living on Ensure, Cherrios (dry, no milk) and Dan-Active Yogurt.  Are there any support groups to help this young couple?? They live in St. Louis.  Thank you.

My doctor told me to stay away from Ensure and yogurt. Be sure you have a doctor that specializes in Chrons to get you a list of foods to stay away from (nuts, red meat, fiber, diary, corn, salads, caffeine, etc...).  I agree with retired dude.  You might need a very plain diet for a week or two so your system can calm down.

Hi, I also live in st louis and have had crohns for 27 years. I dont know of any support groups in the area, you might try googlin it and see what comes up. I also had a hard time in the beginning when i was first diagnosed with the disease. Caffeine and hard to digest foods kept it inflamed, once i stopped the caffeine and salads, nuts, raw vegetables, corn. And started steroids it bacame managable. He might wanna try liquid diet for a week or 2, chicken or beef broth, and white soda, jello, anything nutritious but not solid it may help. There is also lots of good usable info. in forums like this. You might wanna look at www crohns&colitis foundation.com. lots of good info there also.Hope this helps, best of luck
