try undergoing a homeopathic treatment.. my daughter (diagnosed with crohns disease and chronic fatigue) was very satisfied not only with the results but since the whole process doesn't include any surgery or steroids.
Hi Heather,
you might want to try a diet of easily digestible protein (like fish or chicken) and steamed vegetables. like an atkins diet, but healthier (no high-fat meat, etc). a lot of people say to avoid eating carbohydrates with colits/cd anyway, and if you do this, you'll also cut back a ton of calories... salad hurts me too and i only eat it sparingly.
good luck :)
Hi Heather,
I'm new to MedHelp, but I have been diagnosed with CD for about 16 years (wrongly diagnosed prior to that with IBS). I have struggled for so long with weight! Recently, I started seeing a nurse practicioner about this, and she is treating me for insulin resistance and put me on Metformin. Since then (June) I have lost about 23 pounds. It is incredible! Now, I will tell you that, for me, it does have some very real bowel side effects, BUT (no pun intended)....I have upset stomach so often anyway, it's not that big a deal. I've also found that, since I can't do high fiber b/c of the CD, I eat a lot of yogurt and "soft" fibers (oatmeal, cereals, etc.) It might be something to at least ASK about. Oh, as for my CD, I take 6mp and do pretty well.
Best of luck!
