OHIO CO, KY (WFIE) - On Tuesday, the coroner ruled that 34-year old Robert Hatchett died of natural causes, so there's no homicide, but William Hatchett is charged with tampering with evidence.
This isn't the first time crime tape has surrounded the Hatchett's home on Church Street.
William Hatchett says, "In 1992, my pops shot my sister and killed her, then shot himself. We were fifteen. That's what held us together, it was me and him together. Then my mother was sick from 1999 to 2008, then I found her dead."
Now with the death of William's twin brother Robert, William says, "That was it for me. I was the only one left, like the lone ranger."
William tells 14 News he cared for Robert since 2004 when Robert was diagnosed with Huntington's disease.
William says, "I had to sit him up and feed him. He couldn't get to the bathroom."
William says they were inseparable, even in death.
He says, "I kept telling him if you need to go then you can go. I'm going to be alright, but I didn't want to be selfish to see him suffer like that. He died while I was holding his hand."
William admitted on Monday night to burying Robert in their backyard weeks ago.
"It wasn't like I buried him like a dog and then I went on and ate. It took a toll on me."
Too afraid police would not understand Huntington's disease and that people would stare at Robert's unrecognizable state, William says he did not call police when Robert died. William says he also did not have money for a proper burial.
"I wasn't going to take him to a mortuary like 'here's my brother and I don't have anything.' I didn't know what to do."
William says he decided to tell the truth instead of heading to Nebraska to visit a close friend, and wishes he could go back to the evening of January 6.
He says, "I apologize for that, because you do things irrational sometimes and it's hard to say 'where's you're brother at' and you say 'oh he's buried in the yard.'"
William says he made funeral arrangements for Robert on Tuesday with insurance money he found out his late mother had set aside. William says Robert will be buried next to their mother.
A preliminary hearing for William Hatchett is set for Friday morning. He's being held without bond in the Ohio County Jail.
