I see.. Annie thanks so much. You've been a real help and have calmed me right down. I really appreciate it. Il mention to my midwife and see what they say Iv just looked it up and your right. Thanks again!
Historically speaking (i.e., before the advent of ultrasounds) a woman had no way to know she was pregnant except if she missed a period. She would go to the doctor and he would say, "Well, then, when was the first day of your last period?" Not that doctors think a woman is pregs on day 1 of bleeding, but that is a big, obvious timing signal. So they added two weeks at the front of pregnancy to move the clock back to calibrate with the first day of bleeding, and made pregnancy a 280-day event (when it is actually 266 days from conception to full-term birth). All medical textbooks are calibrated to that form of counting, and all doctors, nurses and techs use that form of counting, as do ultrasounds. In other words, "week 1" of pregnancy is the days of your bleeding with your period and "week 2" is just waiting to ovulate, and in week 3 or thereabouts, you would ovulate, conceive and get pregnant. Look it up in some of the pregnancy books like "Your Pregnancy Week By Week." 12 weeks gestational age (GA), the medical way of counting, means 10 weeks since conception.
Really?! Ahh that's helped me calm down so much! For sure? No I wasn't aware? I'm not sure exactly what you mean though.. It's all new to me.
Here is what the conception calculator says for the due date of February 27.
Probable date of ovulation: June 6
Possible dates of conception: June 2 to 10
Good luck...I go for an ultrasound on monday the 19....you are young and have an entire life ahead of you ...like my friend told me a baby is always a blessing...don't stress enjoy every minute of your pregnancy....I know its more easily saI'd than done..
You didn't conceive in May. Are you aware that when a doctor gives you a gestational age (i.e., when he says to you, "You are 12 weeks 1 day pregnant,") he is counting back to the assumed first day of your last period, not to the presumed day of conception?
My due date on 12th was 27th of feb so only a day out.. So what does that mean? As long as I DEFINATLY didn't conceive in may every worry has gone out my head. And hope this helps you too vjenni if we're in same situation!! Your oldest daughter is the same age as me! Young mum , so much worry! Lol :(
Good luck....we have to take the mistake the rest of our pregnancy
Im undicided about getting the paternity test that's why I wanted advice of what are the chances me been pregnant by the man thatbhad the vasectomy...after listening to the babys hb I don't think I can do an abortion...no mattet what the baby is mine eventhough Iwould rather be my husbands...so maybe the test will have to wait till the baby is born even if that means I have to raise it on my own....the sad part is that I raised 4 kids on my own already from my 1st marriage after a divorce it wasn't easy but I did it.....my oldest is 18 I had her when I was 15 my parents forced me to get married at that age with her dad which I ended with 4 kids from him
What due date did they give you at your first ultrasound on the 12th of July? That is more useful for determining a conception date with accuracy than a scan at 12 weeks, since all embryos begin as one cell but they grow at different rates. The earlier ultrasound the better, for dating conception.
My first ultrasound was on the 12th July and I was 7 weeks then second scan on the 18th and I was 8 weeks that day. Then had a scan last Thursday I was 11 weeks and then a scan today and I'm now 12 weeks 1 day. My confirmed due date I got today is 26th feb? Oh please help. I'm so stressed :(
When did you have your first ultrasound? Did they give you an estimated due date? Just by the calendar, the chances are less that the child came from your one-night stand than from your boyfriend, but an ultrasound would be more definitive than the calendar. If the child turns out to be a boy, the chances are also less that the one-night stand is the dad.
Omg, so similar. So are you going to get paternity test whilst your pregnant? If I tell him he will leave me in defiantly and that's just not something I feel I can even think about never mind cope with. He is so excited about being a dad too and his family have bought pram etc. what do you think the chances are? I'm so worried its beyond belief :(
Same mistake here.....my lmp was may 12 ...so we are aboutt the same..when I git a vaginal ultrasound my due date changed to feb 28..friday i will be 12 wks.....I confessed to my husband the affair. I had I knew the consequenses but after I confessed I felt better inside eventhough he wants to get a patertitybtest done and even abort the baby if its not his...
