Morning-after pills don't work 1 out of 8 times. I'm glad you will get a second ultrasound. I will say, though, it really doesn't sound likely to be the first guy.
Meaning that the morning after pill did not work? I'm going to have to go and get a second opinion, this situation is very frustrating.
Well, in your shoes, I would go back and ask them why they gave you such an unusually wide window from the scan. "Between 6 and 8 weeks" along is just highly unusual for someone to say to you when looking at your ultrasound, unless what they said to you is that you conceived 6 weeks ago and are considered 8 weeks pregnant by the GA method. (That, I could sort of understand. The baby would be from your ex, then.)
I think it might be a good idea for you to get another ultrasound (scan) right away even if you have to pay out of pocket. Tell them you don't know the first day of your last period for sure (it could have been the spotting in September) and that you would like an estimated due date based on the embryo's crown-to-rump measurement and developmental markers. Then take that estimated due date and plug it into a conception calculator. The reason you should do this soon is that as babies grow, they can grow at different rates, but early in the pregnancy there is more certainty about dating a pregnancy from ultrasounds.
Hi thank you for the feedback, it was just a scan I have no idea what type, yes I last slept with my bf on the 17th August.
Hi, Indigo, I assume you are writing your dates the British way, meaning that 2/8/14 is not February 8, 2014 but is instead August 2, 2014? Meaning, your timeline is:
First day of last full period August 2
Sex with boyfriend August 9 -17
Light spotting September
Sex with ex October 3
emergency pill within 72 hours
Ultrasound scan November 5
said "between 6 and 8 weeks" pregnant
Is that correct?
I also assume you are saying that the sex with both guys was unprotected? Did you continue to have sex with your boyfriend after August 17, or was that the last time?
I'm puzzled that an ultrasound scan would not be more specific than saying 6 to 8 weeks pregnant. There is a big difference between an embryo at 6 weeks GA and one at 8 weeks GA. What kind of scan did you get?
