You can do an at-home test, but I don't think they are admissible in court for purposes of determining paternity. If you get a list of approved labs from the court system, you can call them to find out their rates. I have heard anywhere from $200 to $500 at a lab, which is not that much more than the over-the-counter tests and a lot more certain. (There is a lot of room for mistrust in the home tests -- what if the guy has his buddy do the swab for him? What if the girl who is doing the testing were to swap the guy's swab with the swab of the real father before she mails them off? And so on.) At the lab, it's handled properly with people giving I.D. and all.
I keep seeing commercials for an at home paternity test that you can buy at drug stores. It's a test you do at home and send it to the lab and they have a fee of like $150 dollars. I don't know how well it works but I thought I'd let you know.
Oh oops... I thought you wrote pregnancy test. I dont know about paternity test. Sorry for the wrong information.
