You tell them girl. I'm 49 and menopausal and have a lot of the same symptoms. I know I'm not crazy.
Doctors like YOU make it difficult for menopausal women like Peggy and I to get proper help. She is not CRAZY. OMG. Everything she is experiencing is menopausal. If she still has an ovary then she can go thru menopause normally!! Do NOT tell women that are menopausal that they need a psychiatrist!
Peggy,
Menopause is the final menstrual period as a result of the cessation of ovarian function(ie oophorectomy-removal of ovaries in your case). Symptoms of menopause generally are limited to months or few years surrounding this time period. Estrogen replacement may cause some of the symptoms that you are experiencing if not at the correct dose. It may also be that you have a primary psychiatric diagnosis as well. I suggest that you discuss these issues further with your gynecologist and then see a psychiatrist for an evaluation if needed.
Sincerely,
HFHS MD-JM
