Concerned Parent

My 29 year old son still lives at home. He has no interest in anything, is very abrupt with us and only gives one word answers when we talk to him. He does not like his job but seems in a rut and very depressed all the time.  He likes girls, but is afraid to ask them out because of past rejection. He has a few good friends(male). I do not know how to approach him and suggest he sees a doctor for help.

My husband is going through a very serious illness (Hep C) and is on edge all the time. They always went hunting & fishing together, but my husband is unable because of his illness. This may be a contributing factor to his depression.

Any suggestions, because it seems he does not enjoy life?

Susan

I think the best way to approach your son is already embedded in your question to me. If you could say directly what you are saying here, he may grunt and walk away, but he will hear you.  Yes, he should be seeing a therapist...if you can't say this to him, maybe you could show him your question and my answer.
