Can my medication for Anxiety/Depression be causing unusual symptoms even if my Dr. says no?

My psychiatrist prescribed me Effexor XR 75mg one time a day along with Klonopin 0.5 mg two times a day as needed for anxiety and depression. I have been on the Klonopin for about three years, but I just started the Effexor about 2.5 months ago. I have loved the Effexor, but for the past three weeks, I have been experiencing extreme symptoms that are almost exactly identical to the symptoms of a person with severe Multiple Sclerosis. I talked to my psychiatrist about this, and he said the Effexor would not do that to me, and referred me to my physician, who then sent me to a neurologist for an MRI and EEG. I have not recieved the results yet from the tests yet, but I was wondering if there is any possibility that the Effexor might be causing me these terrible symptoms contrary to what my psychiatrist and my other two doctors told me? PLEASE HELP!!!

I have been diagnosed as having mini seizures, and have never suffered from depression or bipolar, but I was put on this drug and got horrible effects, I am told by my doctor that I must take some form of drug for it, all of which have horrible effects including weight gain.  I have been told there is a diet called the ketogenic diet which they use for children with seizures, I only had two small episodes and do not know if I want to get involved with a heavy duty drug, anyone ever hear of this diet being of any help.

I think your doctors are giving you the right advice but with this class of medications, rare things can always occur.  If you have any doubt, ask your doctor about stopping the effexor on a trial basis to see what happens.
