Depo-provera use with sex offenders

I'm looking for the protacol for administering depo-provera with adol. patient.If anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

i am amazed by what i learned by just reading this information on depo-vera! ive been on this "drug" for on and off 4 years. when i did get off it, it was only because i missed my date for a reinjection and they made me wait. in that 1 month i was extremely horny, lost 6 pounds and actually was happy! i also ended up getting pregnant because i couldnt remember to take my pill. my boyfriend wasnt ready and neither was i, so i ended up having an abortion. while i was in the recovery room they immediately injected me with the depo-vera again and ive been on it ever since. that will be two years this june of 2000, i too havent has i period since the first shot. ive gained about 40 pounds and have no want or need for sex. i try for the sake of my boyfriend because he has needs but what about mine? your wrong to say only drug addicted fools are on depo-vera. i feel trapped, what else is there?i feel i was wronged, noone told me the extreme effects this would have on my health. they only talked about migranes and no periods. if someone out there can tell me more about alternatives please.....

     Antiandrogen medication appears promising in the treatment of sex offenders as they have been clearly shown to reduce sexual behavior.  Keep in mind that the number of studies in this area  are few and that there are no specific studies to date that I am aware of done with adolescents.  There is not an established "protocol" for using Depo-Provera or CPA in treating sex offenders in an adult or adolescent population.  If you are interested in reviewing the literature on this topic there is an excellent article in Psychiatric Services March 1999 Vol. 50 No. 3 issue.  Hope this was helpful.
