Hi shannon,
My mother in law was actually addicted to opiates for years, from my understanding she was terribly addicted when my husband was younger and went to rehab and was able to stay clean up until 3 years ago, she hid it from the family and came out and admitted to us this past july that shes been taking pills everyday for the past 3 yrs. She explained it that it gave her a high, to be able to do everything and not stress so much about it. She went to rehab out in CA for 30 days, now before she went she had about 2 days here at home without anything, she had the shakes and basically flu symptoms, body aches etc. It lasted about a week for her even while she was at rehab, shes now ome and attends meeting that helps her bc of the support, maybe u should try that.
You have already received the best advice...you might ask your doctor to help mitigate the symptoms by prescribing some short term use of klonopin.
JG is right. On average people on a substance abuse group will be better able to offer advice (relating to substance abuse).
The expert here will be able to offer good advice so make sure you hang around for his response.
My personal advice would be to discuss this with your doctor and then perhaps look into some psychotherapy to address the underlying issues.
Shannon- You might want to post this over in the Substance Abuse group. They can help. It will probably take 3-5 days for physical withdrawal to stop.
