I feel that if I live past getting off of this evil drug I will do what ever I can to make sure no one else has to go through the pain that so many of us are going through. The side effects while on it are costing me my marriage, family,  friends, and work. Getting off of it is even worse.I have been on 75 mgs. for 3 years and was dropped down to 37.5 mgs. a years ago.Still having the side effects I have learned to deal but the ones around me havn't. Not being the type to partake in illegal drugs I have resorted to smoking marijuana to go to sleep.Maybe this is just a bandaid but I can't trust the doctors anymore. 3 doctors 3 trys and I am a mess. the side effects are the same as disgused here.since I decided to stop breaking the law by smoking it has been HELL!  It feels as if I just cold turkey stopped taking effexor but I take it every morning. can anyone help? Please?

I quit effexor 150mg cold turykey on november 18 2007 after taking it for 7 years.  Still going thru withdrawal I have read other post that say a year is a sound time line.  I also have lost it all and my heart goes out to u.  Find I can't stand to be around people the sweating and headaches are unbeleivable still  I am three months in.  My thinking was I a was going to be dead if I kept taking it took a chance not going back. Good luck to u.

I've been on and off, and on and off Effexor during the past decade. If you can ask your doctor to prescribe Prozac and take that with the Effexor as your taper, it could be a great help. The Prozac then will be much easier to get off  once you're off Effexor.  Best.

don't try to get off of it cold turkey, but instead wean yourself over a three period by taking a smaller dose each time, finally the smallest possible on the third week, and take it every third day before you stop altogether....consult your doctor.
