Paxil Effects/ depression and anxiety

I have been taking Paxil for depression and also participating in therapy. My significant other was told about this 2 months ago. I was reluctant to tell him because of negative comments he had made about medication. Since he was told he has been complaining that I am not as empathetic towards him and has even made comments that indicate that he is jealous of my therapist. Do you think that I have gotten up the nerve to tell him how I feel about things rather than let his negative comments slide, or am I really more insensitive now? I feel like I am being more assertive but maybe I am just more self-centered. I look back at other social situations and can see how I am less anxious and intimidated now, this one relationship is the only one that is suffering. Does Paxil make people insensitive?

My question is about the drug called "ADIVAN"? What is it used for? What are side effects?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

i think anouther name for paxil could be 'i dont give a poop(or whatever other word you use for that)' pill, i found when i first went on it i couldnt even cry at a good tearjerker movie,, it was great becuase i was badly depressed and needed a relief from crying all the time, also when things went bad it ddidnt bother me so much, everything was 'oh well,,, it was great,, too bad for your husband though,, if your sick and need these pills then he's the one that should be supporting you not vice versa!, my husband was the reason for my depression and why i had to go on the pills, most good men would see that and be embarrassed that their wife who never needed them before suddenly needed antidepressants to live with him!! he's try to see his part in that,, but not guys like ours, things are better for me now and im off the paxil and i really feel like the confidence it gave me has remained,, i hope it will do the same for you,,

Yes I got tired when I took it, im only on 10mg, but last nite I got real nauseated and could not sleep most of the night, I also was given adivan?  And that did not relax me!  I hope its only temporary, I also got blurred vision and my pupils were huge, is this normal at first?

No it doesn't make people insensitive-you have proof of that right there in front of you. Is your significant other on Paxil? He is VERY insensitive! (there fore paxil and insensitivity do not go hand in hand)
It sounds to me like you are starting to gain control of your life and for some reason that is threatening to him.  From what you have said he sounds like a controling/needy person (forgive me if i am wrong) But the snide remarks and the jealousy are signs of someone who feels threatened.
Good Luck

Hi I read your above and I am looking for positive experiences with paxil or negative, but more positive hopefully.  I just started on 10mg I think, the lowest dose and im scared to gain weight or bad effects.  Anyone including Silent above, i would love to hear your thoughts.  I hope it makes me less sensitive because now im in overdrive and hypersensetive. I pray my symptoms improve with this. thanks all and good luck.

Paxil took a couple of weeks to start working. Initially it made me yawn and feel sleepy but that went away after a couple of weeks. On the positive side, I stopped crying constantly and gradually the self-destructive thoughts went away. I also am better able to cope with social anxiety. Don't waste time obsessing about the medicine! It will only make you think every twitch and hiccup is a side effect. You are making a positive step toward getting your life back!
