Question about medication and supplement interaction

Please can you help?   I stopped drinking alcohol 6 weeks ago.  I did however begin drinking non-alcoholic beer.

I went to a holistic doctor for some tests and I am now on Amino Acid therapy including 5 Hydrotryptophan, natural thyroid, an Adrenal Complex with Bovine, DHEA, natural Lithium and a power drink made with rice products, vitamins, amino acids and essential oils. For the last several years I have taken 10 mg of Prozak and and 50mg Trazadone in the evening to sleep and for anxiety.  No itching has occurred because of those 2 meds.

I feel great mentally and have had very little cravings, however, I began itching all over my body beginning in base of the neck, and moving to the back of my arms, back, legs, stomach and now breasts.
I have also had little bumps occur in those places, some are red.

I went to a dermatologist and she gave me Zyrtec, a steroid shot, and topical cremes, etc.  It has not gone away.

The holistic doctor said he had not heard of any of my supplements, or meds causing the reaction I have gotten except maybe the essential oils and my body purging itself.

I could stop taking the supplements but is there anything else you might suggest?  I'm am itching so much and it never stops.

Thanks for your help.   Jodi

Jodi, you are taking so much, and so many things, its impossible to figure out in advance what is causing the itching. It sounds like a medication side effect, and probably not from the prozac or trazodone.  The thing to do is guess what ingredient it might be and experiment by eliminating that piece. if that not work, try the next one.

just because you have been taking stuff for a long time (prozac and trazodone) does not mean you cannot develop an allergic reaction at some point. i was taking serzone and xanax together and developed a severe allergic reaction.also, all those holistic things could be interacting with prescription meds or each other.

i quit drinking 7 months ago. went to aa meetings every night for 3 months. hang in there - it will get easier and you will feel great. i only take vitamins and DHEA supplement daily.

i forgot to mention...i once had a total body rash that itched constantly and looked like hell. was originally treated in ER w/steroids which did nothing. had a biopsy done and it was determined the rash was viral - caused by a mosquito. it was miserable for 6 weeks. doc recommended about 1/2 hr of sun daily to dry out the rash and a soothing menthol cream. it worked and no scars were left behind.
