No, that site is not supportive at all !!!!!! That site is a cult for valium!! They ONLY support you if you do it their way which is with valium. Even doctor Ashton says that the valium taper is not for everyone and why would you want to get off of one drug that you WILL get withdrawal symptoms from to go on another drug that you STILL have to wean yourself off of and feel withdrawal from???? I've been dry cutting clonazepam for a month and a half now and I feel great!!!!!!
benzo.org.uk ... is the most informative, helpful and supportive site i've seen yet ... they deal with all types of psych med issues ...
I have been away and this may be too late, but if you are still doing this, it should be done over a three week period, in this case 4 weeks, because you are on so many, and under a doctor's supervision because of the neurontin, you may be subject to seizures if done incorrectly. Each week you decrease the dose and the time in between doses so that when you stop at the end you have been on the lowest dose every third day for a week....
please go to paxilprogress.com...they WILL help you with any S.S.R.I. or benzo...for the benzo(clonazepam/klonapin)look up "the road back"....please
Be prepared for some withdrawal,no matter what the dose you are on when you finally make the leap. It certainly helps that you have go it to such a low dose. Can you cut the .5 mgs in half and go on .25 for a while? I would do that, then quit when you are ready. Take a few days off of work. Be prepared for some insomnia. Maybe change your bedtime to much earlier than usual, get a good doc to give you a non-addictive sleep aid, say Trazadone..be also prepared for some rebound anxiety. Don't think this is true anxiety,it's more withdrawal induced. It doesn't mean it's not real, it's just caused by something that if you stick it out, it will eventually subside. I won't lie, getting off of that stuff is really hard. But know what to expect, take steps to ease some of the symptoms. You'll get there!
