Weird Question

I want to know if there is anyone out there that maybe has anxiety so bad and fear of disease and illness that they actually experince the actual symptoms. I got a rash on my breast again then i started fearing breast cancer then the pain in my armpits started to get worse. Yeah I know it sound crazy, but its almost like i make it happen, either that or i am trying to convince myself its only anxiety.

Don't mess with a rash, or anything that can manifest. How can you make up a rash? If you dont get the right answer go toanthother professional. and so son. You must be your own advocate. A rash could also be a reverse reaction to some kind of medications your on, or a combination. call your local Pharmacy professional and ask if there could be a rishk of mixed meds. Get A PROFESSIONAL oppinion.

Hi Mandylynn, is it more accurate that you start to think about a certain illness/disease then will actually almost seek ways to justify that you are at risk or suffering with it.? I have been like this for a long time, but for some reason I have only recently accepted it is more than likely anxiety related. Sometimes I feel my problems are many and complex & as I get so mentally messy/anxious it seems impossible to sort it, other times I think it maybe that I'm just a hypercondriac. It has had a negative impact on my life for so long that I needed to get help to save my sanity. I've been prescribed Prozac which even in a small dose has helped a bit to calm me and help me think more logically. It seems there's an exceptance that your problem maybe anxiety and you have to start with trying to be really honest with yourself then you can do the same with the people who can help you. Just to add, my older sister has suffered with and fully recovered from an aggressive form of breast cancer. If you can honestly say you fear you may have it, GET CHECKED. If you find this fear is a repeatative pattern of some kind it is more likely anxiety related. Take Care.

I wasn't implying that there was a relationship between a rash and breast cancer.  ??  I just thought that people on those forums would have more experience/ ideas.  I have seen people ask and answer all sorts of breast-related questions there.

Sorry if I frightened you unnecessarily.  It was extremely careless of me.

Input on forums is rarely as effective as speaking to your own physician who can assess you and who has access to your history.

I would probably opt for a clinical breast exam AND then treat for anxiety.  You would probably find that approach much more reassuring.  I don't know.

I think you definitely need to treat the anxiety.  I prefer psychotherapy to medication.

Just an aside: when I have been most concerned about my health I have actually been iron deficient.  It was just a thought.

I'm feeling a bit flustered now.  Talk to your doctor.  Have them do a physical exam and then take it from there.

Medicine has come a long way over the years.  Considering we're actually pretty vulnerable we do OK.

I feel the same way at the moment.  I feel pretty haggard from the chronic stress.
I usually start to feel better though if I eat right and exercise.  At the moment I feel pretty tired though and could easily sleep all day (which isn't good for my health).

The best thing you could probably do is go and see your doctor.  A lot of the time we stress unnecessarily when our symptoms are easily explained.
If there is something wrong then it is best to get it treated now.

There is a breast cancer community and expert forum and a dermatology community forum where you could post if you feel that would help.
I would talk to your doctor though.  I think that is the best approach.

I had a therapist who once told me that procrastinating was like putting a cat in the basement.  Over time you get a basement full of cats.
(I think she may have missed the point that there needs to be two cats, a male and a female, but I think I got the gist of what she was trying to say.)

I do think stress can cause a breakdown in our systems, which is why I think after so many years of stress is why I am sick. My body knows there is something wrong. I am just too afraid that it's too late.

I was listening to a mindfulness meditation CD the other day while I was driving (my brother took his stereo out of his car when he went overseas) and it said that excess stress can cause a breakdown in our systems which are most vulnerable.
For some people it may be cancer, while for others it may be heart disease.

A rash could be explained by other factors such as clothing, soap, etc.  Diet?
Could the pain be associated with other premenstrual symptoms such as breast tenderness, etc?

If you are concerned then ask your doctor (?or nurse) to check it out.
I sense a high level of anxiety when reading your post so addressing your anxiety would also be a good idea.

Sometimes I think there is some truth in the saying, that what we fear we create.

Talk to your doctor.

first of all, there is no relationship between a rash and breast cancer. You should treat this as anxiety but if you are of an age when breast cancer is possible, be sure to get it checked out as part of your annual physical.
