concerned

For years I've been clenching my throat. just swallowing really hard. but I've been doing it more lately. i clench my ankles too but now that I'm doing it more often and it's getting really irritating. I'm already on seroquel and two other medications for  and allergies and asthma. i don't want to be on anymore so I'm hesitant about telling a doctor. it might be because I've been more concerned lately about the avian flu. I've been extremely stressed out lately. all i think about is dying and how horrible it will be and illness. i keep thinking I'm going to die. i see a therapist but i don't think she cares and i don't think anybody cares. at least i know I'm guaranteed to have my question answered here. what could be wrong with me?

HELLO. I HAVE SEVERE THYROID PROBLEMS. I HAVE BEEN ON MEDICATION FOR ABOUT 14YEARS NOW. MY THYROID LEVELS GO UP AND DOWN CONSTANTLY. ONE MONTH I'LL BE ON 125MG NEXT COUPLE MONTHS I'LL BE ON 175MG AND SO ON AND SO FORTH [UP AND DOWN]. ANYWAY I HAVE BEEN HAVING SEVERE ANXIETY, MOOD SWINGS, EYE DISTURBANCES, PANIC ATTACKS, PHOBIAS, DEPRESSION AND MANY MORE SYMPTOMS. I WAS TOLD BY AN ENDOCRINOLOGIST THAT SEVERE THYROID PROMBLEMS MIMIC SCHIZOPHRENIA. I HAVE DEALT WITH THIS FOR MANY YEARS THOUGH I FEEL AS IF I'M GETTING MUCH WORSE. WITH SYMPTOMS THAT IS. DOES ANY ONE ELSE OUT THERE MAYBE HAVE SOME OF WHAT I DESCRIBED ABOVE DO TO THYROID PROBLEMS? I HAVE NEVER REALLY DISCUSSED IT WITH ANYONE BEFORE. I HAVE BEEN TO SEVERAL DOCTORS AND COUNSELORS. ITS LIKE THEY DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT. I USED TO TAKE ALOT OF PSYCHOTIC MEDICINE BUT WILL NOT ANYMORE. ALWAYS KEEPING IN MIND WHAT THAT ENDOCRINOLOGIST SAID.

erm, an avian flu pandemic is actually not "highly improbable", at least that's the word with the World Health Organization, the Center for Disease Control and some of the mose respected scientists in the world.

What you have is generalized anxiety, and the beginning of some phobias and obsessive thoughts.  If you don't trust your therapist, tell her so to see what is happening, and if not satisfied, think about changing therapists.

You NEED to discuss these feelings with your doctor(s)!

If you have been seeing your therapist (or whomever) for an overly long period of time (as in years) and don't feel it is working for you, or that they aren't helping you, or don't care, etc., then it is probably past time to find another one, imo.

Depending on where you live, of course, worrying about the avian flu, and/or west nile virus, and/or other paranoia-based thoughts like that (that are, more-likely-than-not, highly improbable, and the like), along with worrying and thinking about dieing and all that, is obviously also something that needs to be discussed with your doctors, and, if possible, a medication change might help.

More is better if it helps and makes you feel better.

btw -- has anyone tried Deprex, and, if so, what were your results?
