depression or stressed

Hi, I was wondering if you can help define what I have or if I even should be worried.  My energy is low and I feel down with myself.  For the last three years I have experienced anxiety attacks.  I get very frustrated very quickly and my temper is very short fused.  I have always been a full of energecy excitting person.  Now I feel unhappy with myself all the time and do not feel like doing my daily things.  My hunbands says I am always grumpy and I scream all the time and my sister who knows well thinks I have a depressin problem.  All the time I have sweats specially around the back of my neck and back of my head.  I sometimes wake up at night in sweats.  My heart races and I feel very anxious and chest pain.  When I have a day of this I get very down for about three days and I do not even smile. Latelly I forget things a lot and I think I have experienced short term memory loss more then long term.  It is really stressfull when I can not remember something I just did.  I am only 32 years old and a mother of two wonderfull boys.

Your symptoms are a mixture of anxiety and depression, and this is the most common form.  Underlying these symptoms is a feeling of being stuck, of an unhappiness about your personal future, and these are life issues for you to resolve through talking with those you trust, or talking to a therapist.   It's not at all uncommon for a woman in your position to go through periods like this, and they can be resolved, but you have to be perfectly honest with yourself in order to resolve them.

Hi while reading, i thought you where talking about me. I had those symptoms, not in that order. I completely agree. You need to consult a doctor, if your doctor doesn't satisfy you look for another doctor.  This are not nonsense symptons.
I don't tell you what my diagnosis was because no matter psychotic or not many illnesses have similar symptons. Good Luck.

I would think that most anyone who responds to this question would agree that you should seek out the opinion of your personal physician or a psychiatrist.  This is not something that can be diagnosed in a forum such as this.  In fact no diagnoses can be made this way.  What your going through does sound like depression but you must also rule out physical possibilities as well.  It's not unusual for us to feel down when our bodies change for any reason.  With that said our bodies are good at giving us warning signs when something isn't right and telling us we should seek out medical attention.

My advice is this... Make an appointment with your family doctor.  Give him your list of physical and mental symptoms and let he or she advise you from there.

Best of luck.

Rod.

Oh! I know this is the best place to get a diagnosis but I in fact have told my doctor about this symptoms and she did not pay much attention.  Another appointment has been made to futher my questions but I wanted to have some more feedback and so I can present more information to her.  Honestly when one lives a stable life and never had any complaints and one day shows up with the list I think doctors think we are exagerating or at least is how I feel.
You are very right with your opinion but I had the need to ask for a second opinion.
Thank you,
