Meloxicam and Depression?

Is it possible that Meloxicam could have eased my depression? I was on Meloxicam for a couple of weeks (for back pain) and noticed a huge improvement in my mood. Was this just a coincidence?

Any pain medication can improve you mood in one of two ways..relief of pain, and a central nervous system effect. So, the answer is yes...

If you persevere with the ad and your mood lifts then you should expect to feel better again.
If you felt good once it would follow that you could feel good again.
I don't want to get your hopes or expectations up but you should be able to feel better.  If you don't, keep following up with your doctor.

Some ad's take a while before you start to see results.  Be patient.  It may take a few weeks.  (Some say as long as four- six weeks).

Good luck.

I'm no longer in pain and my depression has returned, so I guess its more likely that it was the effect on my central nervous system.

I was prescribed Prozac today. This will be my first time taking an anti-depressant. I don't really know what to expect from it. I would like for it to make me feel as good as I did when I was taking Meloxicam. Is that possible?
