You sound like me -- I was taking 15-20 hydrocodones a day for quite a while. I started out innocently (severe back pain) and then I found I was LIKING the pills and started taking them just to feel good. I felt very bad about myself, so I talked to my very understanding doctor, and went off them cold turkey. The withdrawal was hell, but worth it and nothing really bad happened at all. It took to Day 12 for me to feel "normal" again and I'm so happy to be free of those damn pills! I now take an anti-inflammatory for my back and it's working. I'm fortunate in that I have a doctor I can really talk to. Good luck to you -- believe me, it's better to be OFF those pills if you've gotten addicted to them.
You should be doing this under the care of your doctor, and in particular have him prescribe something in the interim that will protect you from having withdrawal seizures.
