physical or mental?

I'm in my 30's,   i've had problems lately with palpitations, lightheadedness,  funny feelings in my chest like my heart will give out,   i've become agorophibic because of the intense episodes i have,   my doctor can't find anything wrong  though i haven't had extremely extensive tests,     but there is one peculiar thing,   when i experience emotions  like laughter especially,   or  if i am anticipating something,   it may induce palpitations  or cause me to feel like my heart is going to give out,   does this sound mental or physical...i was wondering about could it be an over production of "stress hormones"  or does it sound typical of a mental problem

I can't make a diagnosis but you asked me what it sounds like to me and it sounds like a quite typical anxiety experience compounded by stress.  You should be seeing a psychiatrist or a combination of talk therapy and medications.

this sounds so much like mitral valve prolapse syndrome  i was diagnosed at twenty nine. i will tell you that the best way to deal with it is a psychiatrist/ psychologist and an understanding cardiologist . there's a center in alabama i went to and was incredibly helpful. let me know if after researching mvps, this makes sense to you. i know when i was diagnosed i felt agoraphobic as well.

I second salviagrace.

Your symptoms could be from MVP or dysautonomia. It might be worth a visit to a cardiologist.
