vicodin addiction

my wife has been using vicodin along with valium, somas, alcohol, etc for over 13 years now. she goes thru about 120 vicodin  in 2 weeks and then hits the alcohol. a vicious cycle. every now and then i feel like i can reach her and she will admit she has a big problem, but most of the time she thiks she doesn't. it's created major problems, i'm the enemy, i'm the problem her life is upside down etc. Her world is absolute chaos. I feel if i don't do something she'ii end up in a morgue. I don't know a lot about this except all the changes i see in her. can someone enlighten me to the dangers, damage etc. of long term abuse? everthing seems likes its getting worse. she's been in and out of hospitals and treatment centers to no avail. PLEASE HELP?

The dangers and damages are staggering as you already know. Obviously she is cooking her brain and could easily take a fatal overdose.  She is severly addicted and must go to a speciality center that deals with this level of addiction..an ordinary hospital is not enough..You must mobilize your family or hers to create the appropriate intervention.

vicodin has become a substance of my daughter for the past 2 years. It started as a pain killer for an abcess tooth, which her M.D.,(not her dentist) continually prescribed, I don't believe, realizing there was a problem with the vicodin. She has now been  taken off the vic and put on several different meds, such as amitriptyline,bextra valdoxib and wellbutrin. Everything I have found on the net seems to cause great side effects, such as heart attack and stroke and suicidal tendences, butused for an  anti-depression medication. What does a concerned mother do ???
