Continuous stomach gurgling.

I have had what I thought was stomach flu for 4 months.  Symtoms would be the urge to have a bowel movement and constant loud churning of stomach.About 5 minutes after eating the churning would begin, then the need for a BM.

I was hospitalized with meningits May 2 , now recovering but I can't find any connection with the VM and my stomach condition.

Could stress alone create these problems.  It has been a hard Spring, as my father passed away.

Also I have numbness in my fingers.

In short I have gone from an extremely active woman to being a complete mess.  Have called for an appointment with gastroenterologist but can't get in for a month, now I worry that I have serious stomach problem  What do you think?

Sincerely, Lalamac

Read my comment in the upper articles I suggested what to do.Dont despair because this thing is worse then the cancer cancer kills you but this one keeps you disabled.Believe in help. Here is something doctor should read.
Comming to Canada 30 years ago.My friend top sportsmen got this thing.Suddenly started loosing weight developed mucus in intestines severe pains in the stomach and developed problems with pancreas.Dropped 30 lb.Went through endosopy diagnosed with spastic colon.Pain in stomach continued nothing found in stomach except gastritis. This disabled him that he could hardly walk. This active stage lasted more then 4 years.Today he lives in Europe but he is very careful what he eats.Sweets are a danger and alcohol is NO.His wife contracted the same thing and was very sick 3 years. He got married in Europe.
I was perfectly healthy 8 years in Canada then one fall I develpoed the same thing.Rapid drop in weight occasional blood in rectum mucus inflamed liver and pancreas and spleen.I could not eat sudenly at all I had great pains in the area of stomach.I also had severe constipation.I was operated on gallblader they found out that my bile was backing back to the liver because of inflamation of the bile duck.Liver biopsy confirmed inflamation of the liver. It took me 4 years to pass the active stage of this desease.Later I could not from strange reasons digest proteins I would get infections.
This condition lasted 15 years I had itchy patches on my body and candida in my mouth.
Approximately 20 years later I developed relaps.Exactly the same symptoms severe constipation swolen glands frequent urination and itchy patches on my body.Test by test negative.I dropped 40 lb.I was close to death. My symtomps were severe traveling pain in the stomach intestines gas all the time occasional blood in the rectum.Swolen glands nodul on the thyroid.I went through endoscopy large intestine mucus stomach gastraitis and also duodenum.Ct showed enlarged bile ducks in the liver and pancreas.
The came the breakthrough. My wife suggested to doctor test for H Pilori.I was pozitive big way.I took twice in 6 month antibioticks to kill this bug.I killed him it was confirmed by nuclear medicine breath test. But my problems continued.Burning on the toung and all the symptomps.
I have no doubt this is the desease caused by H Pilori.Pilori bug at first will cause severe acid coming to your esophagus and of course it will inflame pancreas liver and often small intestine and colon. This often will be diagnosed WRONGLY as spastic colon, crohn desease etc or IBS.Later stage will this bug thin the stomach lining and damage cell producing HCL.I will leave the host with very litlle digestive juices. That is why people like this will develop sensitivities to foods or as we call it allergies.Mainly to milk any grains and sweets and of course to alcohol.Unles this balance of enzymes HCL is restored the chronic problem will persist.
here is what I suggest to you.
In the morning first juice 3 small potatoes raw and drink it.
Eat rice vegetables small portions drink  lot of herbal digestive teas during the day.If you can eat some fruit apples bananas wild bluberies.Dont eat sweets simple sugars alcohol dairy products stay away from breads corn and others.Try quinoa and amarath. If you experience a lot of gas cut down on the fruit. If you have severe stomach cramps mix all in the blender.
H pilori infestation in USA is 50% of population in Canada is 35% and Europe 75%.there is approximately 20 different kinds of this bug. Some strains cause cancer ulcers inlamation of pancreas liver and etc. This bug produces cytotoxin which damages our system.Dont eat to much protein because in  absence of enzymes and HCL protein will damage liver and kidneys. In addition take liver oil daily enzymes acidophilus. This is best I could do.Pray and believe and hope.Sorry for this long article.

Debbie,  I still have my symptoms.  In fact my stomach actually starts to churn while I am eating.  On Protonic but hasn't helped yet.  Had endoscopy which showed a small hiatal hernia.  Can't believe that a hiatal hernia can cause constant heartburn ,stomach churning.  Good luck.  Get as many tests as you can to solve the mystery.  lalamac

Mucous in the stool could very well be 'mucous colitis".  See your dr. There are many forms of bowel problems that would cause this problem, most of them are easily treatable.  Not always totally effective but should still be helpful.  I suffered with this malady for a long time until the dr. put me on tranquilizers (of all things), after a few months I stopped taking them and rely mainly on controlled diet.  I've been free of the colitis for years.  Good luck.

I have been experiencing similar symptoms.  I have GERDS and the last few month my stomach has been very gassy and bloated, TUMS sometimes helps.  Anything I eat does this to me.  Around the same time I started to break out in hives normally after lunch and dinner time.  My BM's are burning all the time and feel constipated most of the time. I am seeing my doctor in a few days and expect a battery of test.  Can anyone suggest anything, PLEASE.

Debbie

lalamac to vabnicka

Thank you, thank you.  I am still in the testing stage.  At first I suspected bacteria, giardia etc but stool test neg. Having gallstone test next week, and EKg (chest pain).  On prevacid but have only been on for a few days.  Don't notice help yet.  Will try to stay away from the foods you talked about.  Bread/crackers seem to help my stomach(a bit naueaus) but know not good.  Tortilla seem good.  Funny because prior to this I didn't eat many carbs especially bread.  I will keep you posted.

comment to Vabnicka.  You say your friend never got over these symptoms.  What happened?
I just returned from Endoscopy.  Found hiatal hernia.  But even with this diagnosis I feel heaviness in chest and dull ache in stomach.  What to do next?  Thanks .

I have exactly the same problem.Gurgling in the stomach large amount of gas ongoing stifness in fingers laying down.As soon as I eat anything I have to go to the bathroom.Long pencil like feces often and immediately after swalowing sweling of the thyroid  about 2 hours the subsiding. It feels like every time I eat if it would take TOXIC raction in my stomach because with sweling of thyroid I at the same time experience pain in the ears like a flu for 15 minutes. They ran dozens of tests on me found only 2cm nodul on right thyroid biopsy negative for cancer.Stomach I had pilori which was killed by antibioticks left with gastratis/endoscopy/I was sportsmen and one day I experienced 1 year ago stifness in the neck both sides like sleeping wrongly. Then in 2 days I developed sore throat and swelling of the glands and then I head never been the same.I lost 30lb and going from test to test having incredible ammount of gas never ending disregarding the type of the food.Lump in the throat.I guess good portion of the life is over.My friend got the same thing 20 years ago and never is the same.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello - thanks for asking your question.

The continuous urge to have a bowel movement is known as tenesmus.  There are various causes including the following:
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- Anorectal abscess
- Infectious colitis (infection of the colon)
- Colorectal cancer or tumors
- Radiation proctitis or colitis (inflammation of the colon or rectum from radiation)

Inflammatory bowel disease increases the sensitivity of the bowels and can also contribute to your symptoms.  Certainly stress may play a role.  However, before attributing it to that, I would suggest some kind of endoscopy (either a colonoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscopy) to evaluate for any of the diseases I mentioned above.

Regarding the continuous churning of the stomach - I cannot say for sure without examining you.  Again, IBS exacerbated by stress is possible.  Also possible would be the various forms of dysepesia (i.e. GERD, ulcers, gastritis/esophagitis).  An upper GI series would be a reasonable test to evaluate the upper digestive system followed by an endoscopy if necessary.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
