Beware:Bismuth in like Pepto can casue dark stools....i took it twice and had dark, coal color stools for 2 days...its still safe to get it checked

For the past 2 days my stool has been really dark as though it could be blood in my stool. I thought I'd wait a couple of days and see what happens. Also I have had some hemmroid problems first one side of the anus now the other..I used some hemmroid ointment and the first time it cleard up. Now the other side is very discomforting. any suggestions for now

The only way to find out what is wrong is to go to your doctor and he will check you. If it's bright blood it looks more alarming than it probably is which is what I'm guessing you saw in the toilet. That's usually a hemoriod or fissure. Darker blood is from higher up and could signal something more serious.

you need to see a doc. soon.  Fresh red blood is not as alarming, but dark blood could be serious.
