Is it normal for a 13 month to turn purple every time she has a bowel movement?

My daughter is 13 months old.  For the past two months she will sit and scream and turn purple and red while she is trying to pass a stool, that turns out not large or dry, why so much pain?  Two different doctors told me to put Karo syrup in her drinks and meals, this so far hasn't helped the situation.  She has been drinking 2% milk for about one full month now.  I need to get some answers on why she goes through so much pain when she goes to the bathroom.  It happens every time she goes, not just once and a while.  My husband had two hernia operations when he was a newborn, and right now, at the age of 31 he has one hernia he will have to get removed.  Could my daughter have a hernia or some type of hemorrhoid?
Thank you for your help.

If you can't get a dr to observe.  You might find it helpful to  video tape your daughter using a camera that plays back and bring it with you to the dr appt.  I did this when my son was having breathing problems while he slept.  Allowed dr. to see what was actually happening versus my filtered discription.

good luck

THE TWO DOCTORS YOU TOOK YOUR BABY TO, ARE THEY GASTRO /DIGESTIVE SPECIALEST FOR PEDIATRICS ?  BECAUSE IF NOT IT WOULD SEEM THAT THEY WOULD REFER YOU TO ONE OR AT THE LEAST RUN SOME TEST ON THE BABY TO MAKE SURE THER IS NOT A SERIOUS PROBLEM AT HAND. IF I WERE YOU I WOULD TAKE HER FOR A SECOND OPION WITH A SPECIALEST.YOU SAID IT WAS NOT DRY SO TO ME IT DOES NOT SEEM TO INDICATE CONSTIPATION ,SYRUP IS WHAT ALL THE ELDERS IN MY FAMILY GAVE THE BABIES WHEN THEY WERE CONSIPATED.IT JUST SEEM TO ME SENSE YOU HAVE MENTION NO TEST THAT THEY HAVE DONE ON THE BABY THAT THEY MAY BE TAKING THIS TO LIGHTLY BECAUSE SHE IS A INFANT. AS ADULTS WE SOMETIMES HAVE TO GO TO MANY DOCTOR BEFORE WE ARE DIAGNOSED. IF YOU AS A MOTHER FILL THAT KARO SYRUP IS NOT THE ANSWER THEN TAKE HER TO AS MANY DOCTORS AS NEEDED UNTIL YOU FIND THE ANSWER ,BECAUSE IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR A BABY TO TURN PURPLE AND SCREAM DURING BOWEL MOVEMENTS.MOTHER ALWAYS HAVE THAT SECOND SIGHT.(FOLLOW YOUR INSTINCT)GOD BLESS.

Maybe ask a doctor to observe her while she has a bowel movement. You should consult a Pediatric Gastroenterologist.
