Liver Problems and Others

I have had Occasions over the last 6 years that my liver enzymes have been elevated. About 4 weeks ago I went to the doctor because of chronic diarrhea, fatigue, and lower right abdominal pain. Blood work came back with AST 68 and Alt 119 and she said I had a slightly elevated WBC. I also have Bloodshot eyes, small blood spots on chest, arms, and stomach and one on my throat. I was tested for all Hepatitis, these were fine. I have also had dry eyes and mouth some painless spots in mouth, and teeth problems. Sometimes it is hard to swallow dry foods. I have also been having heart palpitations every day for the past 4-5 weeks, somtimes it feels like it falls or stops. I had an ultrasound that showed some fatty infiltrates of liver. I had a colonoscopy they said everything looked fine, gave me meds for spastic colon which I stopped because it made my stomach worse. He took a couple of biopsy of colon, I have not heard from these yet. I also break out alot, reddness of neck and face sometimes. Sun seems to make me feel worse. I had to stop tanning beds a few years ago because the sores got so bad. I have one on my buttocks near anus that has not gone away in over a year. I get these sores on my breasts and shoulders that have left scars. I am so confused and waiting on appointments and tests and more tests seems to take forever. I also had a bone density test that were normal. I shattered my Patella over a year ago and have had 3 surgerys on it. I also had a hysterectomy 5 years ago, endometiosis, and fibroid.( I formed a blood clot in my Uretha after hyster) Thanks for any info!

Another possibility to investigate is porhyria--the type called porphyria cutena (sp?) tarda runs in my family. One develops pretty severe blisters, purplish spots under skin that never seem to heal, receeding gumlines with bleeding etc. Your body's porphyrins cannot process iron in your body & can cause liver stabilty problems, esp if you drink (even moderately) or take certain types of analgesics and tranquilizers. The hemoglobin is fairly high. To treat you avoid the things listed above, and have a pint of blood removed periodically to keep the iron level lower. Most people can manage very well with a good regimen. I think the website is porphyria.org   Hope I'm spelling it right. Take care.

Ask your doctors about the possibility that you might have NON-ALCOHOLIC STEATOHEPATITIS (NASH).  this is inflammation of the liver associated with the accumulation of fat in the liver.  It is not connected with other causes of chronic liver disease, including Hepatitis B & C viruses, autoimmune disorder, alcohol, drug toxicity, and the accumulation of copper or iron.  It differs from the simple accumulation of fat in the liver (called fatty liver) in that the progression of the disease causes damage to the liver cells while fatty liver does not.
