My mother is 55 years old. She has been having various aches and pains specificaly in her legs. She had a checkup done and the doctor wanted to try harmone replacement therapy but told her to have various test too. The ultrasound showed that the gall bladder walls had thickned but there were no stone. The doctor said it was Adenomomatasis of the gall bladder walls and sugessted surgery to have the gall bladder removed. Is surgery necessary ? Is this cancerous ? My mother does not have any stomach pains though she does have a lot of gas and constipation. Could you please advise. I am very worried? (My mother is in India ).

           hi!!
reviewed problem of your mother.there are various causes for thicken
gallbladder wall.few common reasons are recurrent infection, cancer, worm
infestation,associated medical diseases like diabetes,hyper tension,etc.
however a good surgeon will never advice surgery accept it is most essential.so she should concern a good surgeon.
if require gallbladder removal surgery is best done by laparoscopy(key hole surgery).
