Too Many Unusual Symptoms at Once

I have recently moved to the Denver area approximately 3 months ago.  I have moved here from out of state.  Although my move was stressful, unsual stress has not been common.  However, since I have been here, I have gained 23lbs in about 2 1/2 months; all of the weight gain is in my stomach area, I have had terrible heartburn (I had a major ulcer as a child 16yrs old which required major surgery to correct my stomach and esphogus) I have had no problems for the last 15 years until lately.  Another strange thing is that I am having problems with edema and I also have not had mt period for about 3-4 months?  I am a small petite woman, I weighed only 103lbs and I am 5ft 2, now I weigh 127?  I am on no medications currently and I do not understand what is happening to me?  Last night I had what could have described as the worst night of my life, I had retired to bed only to be awakened at 12:30 am with a sudden urge to vomit.  I then vomited about 7 more times, or at least at the dry-heaves until 5 am this morning.  I had terrible heartburn and vomited a very strong bile.  So...any thoughts as to what may or may not be going on with me?  My insurance is active (the 90 day waiting period for a new job) in about 2 weeks, should I wait to see a doctor as financially I can not afford expensive tests without insurance.  Please advise of your thoughts.

Sincerely,
Leasa

You should see an OB/GYN. I had an ovarian cyst several years ago that had the very same symptoms you discribe. I looked 4 or more months pregnant. My cyst was hormonal which caused it to continue to grow. I had vomiting, loss of periods, terrible heartburn, and negative pregnancy tests. I did not have any abdominal pain like you would have with a cyst.

Sounds like the change in altitude has affected you greatly..maybe with your edema...read this below..cut and paste ..it might help. I would see a doctor because I have also read that vomiting up bile can be caused by a blockage in your intestines or bowels. At least see a doctor and get a doctor's input,
Edema

Definition
Edema is a condition of abnormally large fluid volume in the circulatory system or in tissues between the body's cells (interstitial spaces).

Description
Normally the body maintains a balance of fluid in tissues by ensuring that the same amount of water entering the body also leaves it. The circulatory system transports fluid within the body via its network of blood vessels. The fluid, which contains oxygen and nutrients needed by the cells, moves from the walls of the blood vessels into the body's tissues. After its nutrients are used up, fluid moves back into the blood vessels and returns to the heart. The lymphatic system (a network of channels in the body that carry lymph, a colorless fluid containing white blood cells to fight infection) also absorbs and transports this fluid. In edema, either too much fluid moves from the blood vessels into the tissues, or not enough fluid moves from the tissues back into the blood vessels. This fluid imbalance can cause mild to severe swelling in one or more parts of the body.

Causes & symptoms
Many ordinary factors can upset the balance of fluid in the body to cause edema, including:

Immobility. The leg muscles normally contract and compress blood vessels to promote blood flow with walking or running. When these muscles are not used, blood can collect in the veins, making it difficult for fluid to move from tissues back into the vessels.
Heat. Warm temperatures cause the blood vessels to expand, making it easier for fluid to cross into surrounding tissues. High humidity also aggravates this situation.
Medications. Certain drugs, such as steroids, hormone replacements, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and some blood pressure medications may affect how fast fluid leaves blood vessels.
Intake of salty foods. The body needs a constant concentration of salt in its tissues. When excess salt is taken in, the body dilutes it by retaining fluid.
Menstruation and pregnancy. The changing levels of hormones affect the rate at which fluid enters and leaves the tissues

By chance are you eating more than you normally would since your move to Denver.  Stress can cause everything you have described.  I moved to South Dakota from the Greater Cincinnati Area and I was in the same shape as you, including missing my cycle.  By the way, that altitude can cause you to miss your cycle. If it goes on much longer though, I would make an appointment with a GYN.  What ever you do, do not close yourself up in the house like I did.  I gained a lot more than 23 pounds.  My husband was stationed at Ellsworth AFB near Rapid City back in 1973.  Honey, that was the real west then. LOL!!! It took me a year to make a friend but I still wanted to go home.  If you are mad about being there, exercise, take a class, persue a hobby you enjoy.  As to what I think might help, try not to eat late, avoid fatty and spicy foods and go get yourself some Pepcid to keep that acid down in your stomach.  Try to elevate your head when you go to bed.  Relax, who knows you just may like Colorado.  Let us know how you are doing.

I wish I could help you, but I to, have the same symptoms. I have lots of health problems. I have a severe vascular disease, high blood pressure, and have always had trouble with swelling of the hands and feet.
I two have gain a lot of weight in the last months. I try to work out at least 3 times a week. I am holding a lot of fluid in my face, hands and in the abdominal area. I am now feeling sick to my stomach and not sleeping at all.
I am now being test for "Cushings Syndrome". My blood work was ok, now I have to do the 24 hr. urine for Catecolomines.

If you get any results out of your post, please let me know.

And I will do the same. Good luck to you,
Loretta
