Whats This??? Constant NECK

Hello again!
Just got back from my surgeon who listened to my story about chronic aches in my neck and shoulders that is worse after some meals. I told him I do have gallstones but was unsure if that was the cause. He said my complaints are not typical for gallbladder disease.
He wants an upper GI to rule out any digestive disorders before removing my GB. He says a typical attack would be an ache in the gallbladder area and around the back. BUT I have a chronic pain in my neck and shoulders that got worse 4 times after eating. He thinks it might be a coincidence. I am starting to think the same.
I will go to my doctor today and ask for a MRI of my spine. Any suggestions would be helpful. Wondering if anyone out there has ever had a  constant ache in the shoulders & neck that got worse sometimes after meals?????
Thanks for reading this.....

Hello everyone.....

Just had my gallbladder surgery Monday and it went fine. Woke up with the same shoulder ache but gave it some time to before getting too worried. Well the next day after surgery had no neck and shoulder pain and thought I was cured. It is now 4 days later and my same old pains in the neck and shoulder are still here. Thought maybe it could be the excess co2 gas in my body.
I am still hoping it is due to the gas but thinking that I probably had a good day post op because of the pain meds given to me in the hospital. The surgeon said my GB was beaten up a bit. Dealing with constipation and some acid reflux. I really hope this ache goes away. Laying down does help but is no long term solution.
I will seek a pain specialist later if I still have my complaint. By the way the upper GI was negective and the cervical MRI was too. Might ask for a thorasic MRI since the pain may be originating from the center of my back.
Well that is the update of my surgery experience and I hope my story helps.
Best to all!

Get a surgeon...
Everything you typed sounds sooo familiar.
The neck and shoulder pain are from...from my experience...and englarged gall bladder...if you know you have the stones..Get them out...or the dr's will have you running here and there...and you'll be doing the running..and waiting on tests etc..While they are home...healthy...with out pain.....to begin elimination...Your problem could be a combination of things...you need to eliminate what you know is wrong...If you know you have the gall stones..this is killing me...why don't you have them out..I had mine out...at 8:30 in themorn..I was back in work by 1 p.m.  I fibbed to the dr..and nurse...said I'd go right home...I was told I had arthritis...I was told I had unlcers... A nurse I worked with...told me to fire my Dr..and...get a new dr...a surgeon...then proceded to read to me...out of a medical journal...  another bit of help she gave me was to inform me that..Dr's make more..mis-diagnosis..than they get right the first time...and you'll be going to all kinds of specialists...sorry...but...get tough...with your dr...or fire him...Most Dr's are like house painters....just because they work with paint doesn't mean they can paint a picture...keep that in mind...doesn't sound like your dr is a michael angelo to me..sorry...Lisa...Hope you feel betta...choose your food...avoid anything with bubbles or gives you bubbles...avoid...fried food...or spicy food...before and for atleast a month after surgery...Mock Gall attacks...hit even after surgery...Wait till you wake up from surg..and have no pain...bet you'll take a deep breath..and realize..wow...I can breath..and didn't even know..I couldn't like i should have...
worse comes to worse..find an OLD nurse...retired..they tell it like it is...  well..once again...push the dr..if the house painter doesn't paint around the windows...You say something..and get the windows painted..YOU can say something to the Dr...Don't just sit there and do..and do and do..what some person tells you to do..without...asking others...Dr's are not gods...anyone can get a M.D. You just have to pass the test..and..survive internship..that doesn't mean he's a schientific physician...  He's just a ... what is in the book dr...

Where is the pain in your neck?  I have pain in the front of my neck and sometimes it's even like choking just above the collarbone.  My doctor seems to think it's caused by acid reflux, but I also get pain in the back of my neck and between my shoulders also.  I do have a herniated disk, but my doctor doesn't think that would cause the pain in the front of the neck or the choking feeling.  I am at a loss because nothing seems to help, so I don't feel like we're really finding out anything.  Hope you feel better and get some answers and, if so, please let us know.

I have something similar and they removed my gallbadder and it has helped a little...but the pain in my upper back is terrible which is made worse when I eat. I have been told by my GI doc that it's bilary colic and Acid reflux. We have treated this as Acid reflux and that seems to help.  I have dropped ALL caffine, ALL chocolate and every thing that could possible trigger it.

Do you ever get pain the the front of your chest?

I have been on 2)40 mg. of Protonix dialy  or two and half months and still little relief.

Note:  I also have been throat scoped and upper MRI'd, couldn't handle 24 hr. ph monitering unfortunately.  And all the other tests they could think.

Cut all your between meals eating and cut out 95% fat of your fat for 3 weeks and see if this makes a difference.

If you get any help please email me at ***@****
