Will my facioscapulohumeral disease cause esophogeal spasms?

I have been recently diagnosed with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy. Lately I have been having symptoms that indicate sophogeal spasms. Would my form of muscular dystrophy affect the esophagus? Thanks.
