I had SOD and had the sphincter cut. I know of a very good doctor in Cleveland Ohio. His name is Dr. Michael Sivak he is very good
I have been having the same problems for years now, ever since I had my gallbladder out. Maybe you need to have another ERCP done. I have had 3 sphincterotomies and each time the duct has become blocked with scar tissue. I have also had a stent and had the duct ballooned. Since my first ERCP and sphincterotomy I have started to devlop stones, which were not a problem before. All these reasons indicate to me that you should have another ERCP to find out what is going on. Good luck.
Hey Joy-
My name is Tonya. I had my gall bladder removed in July - 2000 due to the fact that it was severly diseased and inflamed. I was so sick for a month straight before the surgery. After the surgery, my nausea got a little better but I still have the urq and ulq pain and my back hurts all the time even more now than before the surgery. I was finally diagnosed in January with SOD but just by my symptoms. I have not had the pressures in my ducts checked due to the fact that my GI doesn't do it due to the risks. He did go in a cut the bile duct w/ERCP in January put didn't touch the pancreactic dut. I did get alittle relief with the urq pain but not the left. I lost my job in March due to this. I'd worked for the state since I was 18 (I'm now 31). I also have 3 small children and I couldn't work or take care of them. I was down to 101 in March. I'm now back up to 115 but my normal weight is 136. I've had ever test in the book including a 2nd CT scan this past Friday to check the condition of my pancreas and ducts. I had asked him about going back in and checking out my pancreactic duct but he thinks its to risky but said if the CT shows any diliation he would place a stent in. My GI's nurse called me today to tell me that it was all normal and that he wanted to wait a little longer and observe as your doc is. I'm so upset and depressed. I've been OBSERVED with this **** for exactly a year now. All my blood work is always normal also. I'm now considering going to a university somewhere that specializes with this disorder. I'll be doing some research. Hang in there and don't give up searching. We'll find the right doc!!
