pelvic pain

I have had left low pelvic burning pain for a couple of weeks, it comes and goes constantly, like a twinge or something like a cramp.  I am 49 and have been having regular periods, but this month I'm late.  Also, had some diarrhea and low back pain last week.  What could this be?

I had a pain similar to yours in the lower left pelvic region.  You didn't mention if you had any unusual urinary changes, but if you do, it is possibly cystitis (bladder infection).  My burning pain had resolved but became more of an ache and I found out following an ultrasound that I also have a rather large fibroid.  Although this is primarily a forum for gastroenterology,I didn't see any harm in sharing my experience. You might want to ask your doctor for a blood test to check for infection.

Further to my recent posting, I believe the definitive test for cystitis is a urine test.
