What is wrong with me

EBW
Hi-

I am 23 years ol and for the last 6 days I have experienced frequent visits to the bathroom.  At first, I would go and feel better.  But more recently, I get severe cramps, go to the bathroom, nothing comes out but a lot of gas and some liquidy stuff and then I feel better for a little while until the cramps come back.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank-you for bringing something so thoughtless to our attention, and we should all be feeling very ashamed of ourselves.  I have noticed that too, and sometimes will try to answer someone even if I have nothing to offer just so these people will know that somebody cares and notices.  Maybe sometimes we know of nothing to say or it's such a strange question that none of us care to give an equally strange answer.  And the more I'm writing this, the more I want to go back through the entire forum and answer everyone a little something who hasn't received some kind of support yet.  Maybe we should all do that, don't you think?
So to everyone who reads this - take a few minutes out of your time here to go back over some of these questions and find someone who asked a question and never received a reply.  I think even a simple 'I don't have an answer but wanted to wish you well' would be very nice, don't you think?

Best of luck, man! I had a quick question for everyone else, though...what draws more responses to some questions over others? Just out of curiousity...as I often see six or more responses to some postings while others, which seem equally dire in need of advice and hope, get one, two, or NONE? Obviously I'm biased, as I'm at wit's end and only had one response to my last topic...but I'm also just curious as I see many, many others that need advice and comfort at much higher levels (and yes, I play victim to my own laziness in providing hope to others, but I hope to change my ways). Anyway just a question/observation.

Thank you for your advice everyone.  I have done some reading today and agree that it is probobly some IBS and I am not about to start taking wierd drugs just because somebody I don't know told me to, although I do appreciate the help.  I have an appointment with the Doctor tomorrow which I made because the cramping is so bad.  I don't mind the running to the bathroom, but the cramps/gas pains, whatever they are are getting unbearable.  I'll let you all know what the Doc says.

Thanks again,

Eric

I agree with Shana (who in my opinion has more common sense than most).  Wait for awhile and see what happens.  You're only 23 and about the only thing that can strike someone as young as you in that department is IBS.  And like Shana, I too will get alot of flack here, but please don't go trying anything new or putting things you know nothing about in your body.  There are alot of people on this forum who give out some pretty strange advice, who like to cut and paste 'advice' that's several pages long that more times than not has nothing whatsoever to do with your problem.  I also wouldn't go running to a doctor just yet as he will probably ask your age, listen to your symptoms, and tell you it's most likely IBS and give you a diet to follow.  What you might want to do is look on the internet for information on this and read what is written there so you can find out what you need to know and hopefully put your mind at ease.  There a website called www.webmd.com that will give you better medical information than you'll find most anywhere else.  Search there and see what you come up with.  Take care of yourself and don't worry.

What you are describing sounds very much like IBS - Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  It usually hits young girls in their 20's and is most often from stress.  The cramping is usually caused by spasms in your colon, and you are also producing excess amounts of gas, a typical symptom of this.  I know I will get alot of negative responses from this advice, but at age 23 and only a week of discomfort, I would wait before running to a doctor to see if it runs its course.  You could very well have eaten something that was either bad or didn't agree with you, in which case it will gradually ease up and go away.  And you are too young to have anything really seriously wrong.  Wait it out and give it a chance to get better on it's own.  You'll know if you need to see a doctor without anyone on here telling you to go.  Take care and don't worry, and please let us know how you are. :)

If you would like to find out what is wrong with you, make an appt. to see your doc. Although I can offer you and opinion, your doctor is the person you should seek out. Now, with that said, it sounds as if you may be experiencing some mild Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The symptoms you describe sound like such. My question to you: what type of diet do you lead? Are you under some mental stress lately? Taken any antibiotics lately? Any fevers/chills/wieght loss? I only ask these things because they can all cause you to have what you are describing? Also, when you do have a bowel movement, is there any blood in the toilet or on the toilet tissue? There are a lot of "things" that can cause your symptoms, most of them being benign(relatively harmless). BUT...you need to seek out your physician so they can run the proper tests to figure out what may be the problem. I hope you get your questions answered...take care!
