Bleeding

For the past year I have been noticing a white mucas on my stool.  This would happen about once to twice a month.  I didn't think much of it because I thought it might of been something I ate.  Although, recently I have had blood on my stool which is really scaring me.  I am not constipated when this happening so I know that I am not popping blood vessels or anything like that.  I am only 23 and I have no family history of problems like this.  Does this sound like anything I should be concerned about?

Their called proctosedyl.  As far as i know, you need to get them from your doctor.  You can also get it in kind of an enima applicator.... (ewwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!), but i find the suppositories WAY easier and way less disgusting.  Hope i've helped!!!

Katey,

If you don't mind my asking, what brand of suppositories do you use for your internal hemmorhoids?  I have occasional problems with mine, also for the same reasons as you, and really need to find something that works.

Thanks for the tip.

Hey you.  Don't worry!!  You say that the blood was on the stool, so i'm guessing that it was bright red.  Bright red blood on the stools means that the blood is coming from the rectum or the sigmoid colon i believe.  Its the left side.  Since you're only 23, the most likely case is that you have internal hemmorhoids or a fissure.  Mucus can be caused from irratible bowel syndrom.  If you're having blood AND mucus, inflammitory bowel disease in an option (ulcerative colitis).  I had blood and mucus for a month, and i've started taking these suppositories for internal hemmorhoids, and the bleeding has gone away.  I also had mucus, diarreah, and occasional constipation.  Don't get yourself worked up over colon cancer and other horrible things like i did!
