Can this be my liver???

zen
I have had pain in my right side just underneath my ribcage for over a year now. Sometimes it is tender if you push inwards. This pain comes and goes. I have also had an achiness behind my right rib cage from below my nipple area to the bottom and throughout the right side as well as pain on the far right side of my rib cage. I almost feel like I'm swollen or bruised. When I twist I can also feel the tenderness throughout that area. Feel it more in the morning when I get up. I have complained several times to my family doctor, have had several liver function tests which were normal, saw a gastro specialist ...had a colonoscopy (normal) and gastroscopy (esophigitis and ulcers in duodenum). Taking prevacid now. Due for an MRI next month. Have had alot of stress in the last few years both physical and emotional as a result of being hit by a car as a pedestrian. Getting better day by day.  Also drank heavily (a bottle of wine each night min.) for this period which helped me deal with physical and emotional pain. I was self medicating myself...seemed to be the only thing that worked! I'm convinced this is my liver...especially because of the drinking. Doctor's are not concerned about my liver!!! Has anyone had anything similar? I need answers!!! I'm worried!!!
Thank You in advance!

I think it sounds more like your gall bladder.  Many times the test do not show stones but sludge.  When I had my colangegram (? spelling) they discovered I had gravel which was showing up as sludge on the ultra sound.  I had this pain for quite a while before I had the surgery.  Then I continued to have this pain until 8 years later they discovered I have sphincter of oddi dysfunction.  Drinking can really stir up that pain.  I could not have a drink even if I wanted one.  Stay away from red meat and fatty foods for a while and see if the pain subsides.  If it does I would have the doctor look into checking out your gall bladder.  Let us know how you are doing.  Good Luck!

Cut out all hydrogenated fats from your diet. Read the labels.  Many many many packaged foods contain "Partially Hydrogenated" or "Hydrogenated oils or fats".
