Hi!
Well Cocodomol is actually indicated for pain such as back ache, neck pain etc. It is not taken for self-harm and is also unlikely to be the cause of self harm. There have been cases where patients have reported that they took to self destruction, but in all cases, usually the cause is depression or a psychological problem.
Hepatitis is caused by the acetaminophen or paracetamol component of Cocodomol. If not treated aggressively, this can lead to liver failure, as paracetamol usually causes a severe type of hepatitis. You have to stop any drug that contains paracetamol with immediate effect. Taking even a single dose of Cocodomol at this stage can cause really serious consequences.
During the acute phase you need to take adequate rest, avoid fat free diet, take glucose (either oral or in drip form), drink water and fresh fruit juices and avoid alcohol, paracetamol and other drugs metabolized by the liver. If you have severe nausea and vomiting, you may need IV drip and medications to stop vomiting through that. In order to prevent severe liver necrosis and failure due to acetaminophen induced hepatitis, some doctors prescribe oral N-acetylcysteine. So, ask your doctor about it.
Please stop Cocodomol. Do not take any medications without asking your doctor. Rest and eat as advised. Please follow your doctor’s instructions carefully. If you do this, you will soon recover without any major consequences.
Hope you get well soon! Good Luck and take care!
