What can it be?

My mother is 74, suffering from what dr. said was dysfunction bowel, very bad.  She has been given many meds, not working. She has a foamy saliva each day, goes through a box of kleenex a night.
She says she has a horrible smell in her system, and she is very sick. she can not get out of bed most of the time. she can not do anything.   I do not understand why there is nothing that can be done.  She has been like this, since before Christmas.  Been to two doctors.  Antibiotics, strong ones, other meds. she is always sick to her stomack.  She was told her food is not digesting properly and test shows mass in stomach.
Any clue that this is or what can be done for her.  I do not understand why she is not in the hospital.  This is not living.  What can she do. Thanks, we, my family do not know what to do.

It sounds like your doctor is not being aggressive.  A MASS in the stomach?  SWITCH DOCTORS!  IMMEDIATELY!  Go to a different town if you have to.  Any doctor who doesn't investigate everything isn't worth having.  My grandmother had a doctor who told her that he found a little mass but he didn't think it was anything, gave her some drugs and sent her home.  She didn't believe him, switched to another - it was cancer - very treatable and she survived just fine.  Why take the chance?

I would strongly suggest getting a different doctor who will find out what is wrong with your mother. Have they told you what the mass in her stomach is or why her bowels are not functioning? You're right, she doesn't have a good quality of life and maybe something more could be done to help her feel better. I guess you know there's no doctor on this forum, only patient to patient. I used to work as a nurse aide in a nursing home before I became disabled, and it seemed that older people's problems weren't treated as aggressively as they should have been. Make sure you let the doctor know you have questions and need to know what else can be done. Best wishes.
