Question for kimbacat and rhonda528

i have suffered for about 2 months now, blood work, scope, biopsy, all negative, pain around navel sometimes left, center, mostly right of navel. no change in stool, i vomited one time in july then lost about 10 lbs . no vomit since. ive lost 50 lbs since january, i figure there are two things, 1. something wrong with intenstines, not allowing my nutrients to penetrate and be absorbed or 2. a tapeworm or parasite is eating it all. you have any ideas, I tend to favor the natural healing processes, not fan of anitiboitics......... so ive been researching for 2 months, drinking aloe vera juice, and some other teas which have helped yet the symptoms are there and my weight is 145lbs, im 5'11", cant seem to gain weight. this last week ive read about people with chrons disease using a product called HSO (Homeostatic Soil Organisms) it introduces healthy bacteria into digestive system.......... of course the testimonials and doctors of article sound convincing :)..... they all do lol....... hope to hear from you and god bless

Have you tried eliminating wheat and wheat products from your diet.  I suffered from the same symptoms you mentioned for years and by accident found out that if I stay away from wheat and all grains except rice, the symptoms totally disappeared.  You have to be off it for a couple to three days before you notice a real difference.  I ate vegies, fruit, rice and pure meat only and within three days, I felt like million bucks.  After I was doing this for a couple of weeks, I tested it by eating pancakes and the bloated, gurgly, etc., etc., was right back.  I haven't eaten these products now since May.  For years, I've had such a noisy stomach I'm embarrassed in church, meetings, etc.  Not any more.....Good luck.

thank you kimbacat, yes, the gastro specialist basically wiped his hands clean of me, stated he could find nothing wrong and to go see a reg md, which puts me in a cycle i dont like paying for :). i tried taking the mulitivitamin, it was a time release type and since quit taking it, the pain has been less, the weight loss has stopped, i fluctate from 145-148 lbs daily, when i drink the ensure, it will cause the pain within  a minute or two, so i drink that only once or twice a week now, that is what i will talk to reg md about today, why would ensure cause the pain and then my stool is hard afterwards, that is the only difference in my stool, when i drink ensure or when i would eat sausage........ will research celiac disease and helminth worms now,,,,,,,,thanks so much for the reply. nice to meet someone who cares...........if you would like, i could scan this 4 page document on HSO and email to you, seems some have found relief from chrons using the product.
take care and have a great day :)

yeah, I really hate that 'pass the buck' stuff docs do.  ensure is supposed to be lactose and gluten free and those are 2 common culprits for problems.  I hope your doc can help figure things out.

take care

hmmmm, nothing jumps out at me.  but here are a few questions that come to mind.

have you seen a gastroenterologist?  what did s/he say?  what does your reg doc say about the weight loss?  do you have diarrhea?  did you have a stool culture done, checked for occult blood and evaluated for content?  were you tested for celiac disease?  those will help to look for some obvious potential problems.  have you had a small bowel follow thru?  are you seeing undigested food in your stool?  have you tried keeping a food diary to see if there is a pattern to the pain around your naval and to make sure you are getting enough calories?  is your weight loss consistant or does it occur in spurts?  aloe vera coats the lining of the intestine and can interfere with absorption (it can also cause diarrhea).  eating small frequent meals might help.  I'd recommend taking a good multivitamin, adding some liquid supplements (Boost, Ensure, etc) and staying away from caffeine since it can speed up your bowel (check the types of tea you are using).  also, push your doc to find out the reason for the weight loss and pain.  I believe there is a small study being done using worms as treatment for crohn's.  I think it's with helminth worms or something like that.

take care, I hope you are able to find relief soon
