Nanny? Lor? biliary menometry

I wrote a while back to ask if anyone has heard of the FDA pulling proceedures because of dangers involved.  I have not had an attack since Labor Day when I had to be hospitalized for pancreatitus.  My gastro. doc was going to send me to Baylor to have biliary menometry performed to find out about the pressure in one of my valves.  His nurse called back to say the proceedure was pulled by the FDA.  I still have not heard any more about this from anyone?  Does anyone know if this is true?  My doc. said he was working on a second plan for me but I have not heard back from him in weeks.  I have been feeling better than I have in a long time.  I seem to be controlling my attacks w/a LOW fat diet and exercise.  I hate to call him now that things have seemed to have calmed down.  Has anyone heard of alternatives for this proceedure?

I have not heard of alternative treatments. ERCP with menometry is a dangerous precedure many facilities won't offer it any longer due to conplications. The FDA did not pull it. It is still being done at different specialized facilities. If you are not having pain or are feeling better. It probably isn't something that you want to pursue at this time. The Mayo Clinic told me last Jan 02 they no longer did it either. I found out later from Borland Groover that they do. The Dr just didn't want to get involved. The way you can find out is call your insurance company. Tell them you need the "ERCP with menometry" and ask where you can have it done. Make sure you stress it is with menometry.

I am now in the process of having one scheduled at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida now for SOD.  If I hear of any problems with getting it scheduled I'll let you know, but I just talked to my gastroenterologist's office today, they had faxed all my records to Shands for review and scheduling, and they were not told that they would not do it, so it sounds like it is a go.

Again, if I hear anything from Shands about them not performing them because of the FDA I'll contact you.
