What's wrong with me?

About two weeks ago, I started getting nauesous.  I still continued eating regularly, and it really wasn't that big of a problem at the time.  Well, a week ago, it became a problem.  I got/am at the point to where if I try eat anything, I can take one bite, but then I get the sudden urge to vomit (hardly ever do though).  I also have been having diarreha, and I'm VERY weak and stay lightheaded when I try to walk.  I even tried drinking water and I still got queasy off the water.  I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday, but I need to do something before then.  I have a 10 month old son, and my husband has been deployed for the military, and I just don't have the energy left to care for him.  It takes all the energy I have to tend to him.  I was diagnoised with IBS two years ago, but I don't think that has anything to do with the problem.  Oh, I have been running a slight fever also...99-100.  The most I've eaten/have been able to eat in a week without getting nauseous is a piece of toast.  I really hope someone can give me so advice!  Thanks in advance!

If you are so nauseous that you cannot eat or drink, and are running a temperature and obviously showing signs of dehydration as a result of these problems, I would urge you to go to the ER for immediate assistance.  Either that, or call your doctor again, explaining these symptoms and the fact that this disables you to the point that you can't care for your child, and see if they can squeeze you in.  You didn't say whether you were relying upon on a military hospital or civilian services, but this problem needs to be taken care of before your husband is deployed.  He might be able to talk to his superiors in the squadron to see if they can put on some pressure to get you in if you are utilizing base medical facilities.  Meanwhile, try to drink ginger ale (it helps settle the stomach), or suck on a sliver of ginger root for about 10 minutes (this controls nausea).  Also TRY to drink gatorade or water to keep hydrated.  Good luck, and let us know how you do.

I agree with Nanny - get to an ER as soon as possible!  I know, because I was in that very situation last week.  I waited until I got to the point that I couldn't even hold my head up without blacking out.  Went to the ER after much debate with myself and had to have 2 liters of fluids by IV along with a bunch of meds.  Also got my butt chewed royally by the ER doctor and I richly deserved it for letting myself go for that long.  As I found out, the longer you procrastinate, the worse it gets.  Don't mean to scare you, but don't mess with it.
