Anyone else have this problem?

My chest muscles are very sore in the middle.  Driving is very painful or anything where I must lift my arms.  Also have pain in the front of my neck and some burning in the chest and out under both arms along with some weakness and a bit of lightheadedness at times. Have not done anything unusual to cause soreness.  I have been trying to wean from use of Nexium and don't know whether this is excess acid causing it or something else.  The soreness and getting lightheaded make me wonder if it is something else.  Please help!

I have been on Nexium for about 6 months now for burning sensation in stomach with acid reflux sometimes. Earlier, I had H-Pylori infection which was cured with antibiotics and since then i have been taking Nexium 40mg once a day and now 20mg once a day. Since the past 2 months, I've been experiencing mild weakness and lightheadedness (feeling that I'm in motion/vibration). This feeling is mild but bothersome. I have tested my blood levels, eye-sight, ear, gallbladder etc and all normal. If I stop Nexium, I feel better but my stomach starts burning again.  I'm trying to figure out if its Nexium thats causing the symptoms. The doctor says that it should not. I did not do well at all on protonix. It made me sick and nauseous.
Does anyone else have the same effects with Nexium?

your symptoms sound familiar.  I have had some belching and I have pain that shoots under both arms.  I thought it might be my lymph nodes, not sure but I also have been having a problem like gastritis.  Does anyone know if gastritis can cause a pain or a spasm under your arms?

Also I have a burning or a moving sensation around my navel.

IF YOU HAVE BARRET'S ESOPHAGOUS, YOU SHOULD NOT STOP YOUR PPI'S THAT QUICKLY WITHOUT EVEN CHECKING WITH YOUR DOCTOR.  PROBABLY YOUR DOCTOR WILL HAVE ANOTHER OPTIONS SUCH AS PREVACID INSTEAD OF NEXIUM.  PROTONIX IS NOT A GOOD MEDICINE FOR ACID REFLUX;  I TOOK IT FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND IT DID NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME.  I REALLY DO NOT KNOW IF PROTONIX HAS WORKED OUT FOR SOMEBODY, BUT ACCORDING TO ONE OF THE DOCTORS AT THE HOSPITAL I AM GOING TO, PROTONIX IS NOT EVEN A DECENT MED TO CONTROL GERD.  HAVE YOU HAD A MANNOMETRY AND A PH PROBE DONE.

REMEMBER THAT THE PROBLEM YOU GOT NEEDS PPI'S CONSTANTLY FOR KEEPING EXPANDING.

GOOD LUCK

Have you had any tests done to find out what is causing this?  I have had left side, midab after eating and alot of chest discomfort up to my throat.  I had every ultrasound done, all normal.  By off chance my GI checked my gall bladder with a liver function test.  I have a disfunctional gall bladder which he says is the problem for the chest pain and everything else. My brother died of pancreatic cancer at 42 and I am having a CT scan tomorrow before I have my gall bladder removed just to be sure.  I have these symptoms almost daily and I can't control it through diet because everything bothers me.  Even water.  It amazes me how your body works and symptoms vary from one to another.  If you are that uncomfortable, pursue it to the fullest.  That's what we pay our doctors and insurance for.  I get frustrated when I look at my check book over the past 3 months, but it's worth it if I can feel better. Good luck.

I've tried all the PPIs and have had a lot of side effects from all of them.  Was able to take Nexium the longest.  I've had endoscopy which showed the esophagus problem, and a HIDA scan because my doctor was convinced all the extra problems were that and not Nexium side effects, but it came back okay.  Nothing was said about a liver function test though.  Haven't been back to the doctor since the HIDA scan.  I've mentioned the soreness and pain in the throat area to him before and he kinda just smiles at me and says take your medicine.  Do either of you think that all this is from the esophagus?  Seems to me it should be better by now.

I've been taking Nexium since last October, but before that I was on Protonix for a few months.  It's for acid reflux.  I have Barrett's Esophagus.  I'm trying to get off because I was getting a lot of side effects from the PPIs.  The burning I'm sure is the acid reflux, but I don't understand the soreness or the weakness and being lightheaded.  The pain in the throat, front of the neck -- not inside -- was there even while taking the Nexium.  Sometimes I even get really hot and nauseated with it.  Would like to figure out how to get the soreness to go away.  Any help would be appreciated.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU TAKEN NEXIUM AND FOR WHAT REASONS.  YOUR PAIN COULD BE ACID REFLUX IN YOUR ESOPHAGOUS.

WAITING FOR A RESPONSE.
