My dog, an 8 year old Chocolate Lab was recently diagnosed with liver disease. The exact type is not yet determined as we need a biopsy. So, for 2 weeks he is going to be taking 2 meds prescribed by the vet and on special diet. Then we will re-do the blood work and if worse or no change, go for biopsy. I'm devastated. We need for him to eat. All he eats is toast with butter or a bit of jam. He rarely eats his kibble. I have to forced him his meds, which he hates. I've read a lot about dogs being picky and untrusting of the food they are given. Wondering if anyone else has any ideas. He will not eat bland foods, therefore rice and potato are out. Its literally making me sick watching him deny food as he loved food. I'm not sure how he will get better if he only eats toast. Once and a while he will eat a pc of apple but that's rare. He used to love soft dog food but he won't eat the stuff from the vet. He's hungry, as he smells and follows etc, but when given, he turns his head. I've worked with him and have lots of patience, I'm just looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. Mornings seem worst. By afternoon he has something. Please help.
