my dachshund

I have a miniature dachshund that is approximately ten years old. Okay so my dachshund has cysts on her body in various areas, although most of them are on her upper body. I asked my vet and he said that it was completely normal for older dachshunds to have cysts like that. Also sometimes during the year she will get an allergic reaction type of thing where she gets hives and in bad cases she will get her entire face swells up.. and apparently a very small amount of benedril is okay for dogs, so we gave her a little bit of that it went down, but i am still very worried about this. Please I would just like to know how my dachshund is doing and if there is anything i can do for her.

Fatty tumors and cysts are very normal, nothing to worry about. If any pop up that aren't very movable, rock hard, or grow unusually fast, then I would have them checked out, even then they may be nothing. Sometimes a cyst will pop on its own and need to drain and be cleaned.

Benadryl is quite often used in dogs, it is given according to weight. Weigh her at home and then call your vet and ask what an appropriate dosage is for her size. Some dogs may get very drowsy with it, but it is fine for them. :)
