I think they are related to anxiety. I know that when my body is in its anxious state that I have them, like you, right when I'm trying to relax and fall alseep. Its like a big pop in my head.

Yes.  I've had them side my symptoms started inAugust.  I don't know what causes them but I noticed they seem to happen right before an episode of lightheadedness or syncope.  They are definitely on the inside, like a really quick migraine headache and then they go away.  They feel like an electric shock.

Yes, I have the brain zaps almost every night when I am falling asleep. They feel like they are on the inside of the head, not on the surface of the scalp. I haven't taken any SSRIs. It has been going on for more than a year. I think I might have dysautonomia as a result of hyperparathyroidism. Do you want to tell us more about what your expereince has been?

I sometimes go through periods where every time I move my eyes it feels like my brain is going 'pzzzzt', almost like a little electrical shock.

Are you on an SSRI or have you recently terminated treatment with an SSRI?  I've generally seen "brain zaps" described in association with SSRI withdrawal symptoms.

See here:

I haven't heard that terminology in association with anything else related to dysautonomia (though of course SSRIs/SNRIs are used in treatment of some forms of dysautonomia, thus the SSRI connection); however, it's plausible that it could be a variant of the scalp side effects experienced by some from Proamatine/Midodrine (due to piloerection).  Not sure if you take that or not either?

If you mean a little localized place on the scalp that tingle intensely, I've had that... a neurologist informed me it was muscle spasms.
