I have been getting sinus infections for about 3.5 years now and they're only getting worse. My CT scan was negative for chronic sinusitis but showed a slight deviated septum with a bone spur. The congestion was not in my sinuses but rather in my upper nasal cavity. My nose isn't realIy runny but I get a ton of post nasal drip that makes me feel as though I am drowning. I got allergy testing done and I am not allergic to anything. I have tried different kinds of antibiotics on several occasions, nasal spray, nasal rinses, steroids, and prescription decongestant. Nothing seems to help at all. I'm tired of the pain and the headaches. The first ENT I went to didn't listen to anything I had to say and told me that I wouldn't be getting headaches with a deviated septum, bone spur, or sinus infection... the second ENT I went to told me that he would like to do a septoplasty surgery and that he felt fairly confident that it would fix my problems. My insurance denied me for the surgery (I am on state insurance). Is there anything else I can do for this? Is there any way to fight insurance? My primary doctor doesn't know what else to do and basically has told me she can't do anything. Help!
I did request my medical records so I could use that to appeal the denial. I've been to the ER twice, Urgent Care at least 6 times, and my primary doctor at least 5 times for the same issue just in the past year. I've taken antibiotics for every visit and I've taken steroids two separate times.
